Pours a clear, gold color. 2/3 inch head of a white color. Great retention and good lacing. Smells of hint of hop, pale malt, lager yeast, hint of wheat, and a hint of alcohol. Fits the style of a Maibock / Hellses Bock. Mouth feel is sharp and clean, with an average carbonation level. There is also a good level of dryness for a Maibock. Tastes of pale malt, wheat, lager yeast, hint of hop, and slight sweet malt. Overall, good appearance and feel, but aroma, body, and blend are a little lacking. This is probably due to being imported from Germany.

Pours medium gold with a foam head that does not last. Some bubbles rising. Nice golden brew.

This has the nose of a German beer. Grassy notes, with light sweet malt. A mild honeyed aroma comes thru, and you get a hint of alcohol.

Malt forward, with some moderate bitter grassy notes. Some light sweet malt, with the sweetness dissipating quickly. A little bite on the tongue from the alcohol, which sets the beer a bit off-balance. This is a beer that can sneak up on you. Finishes crisp and bitter with some residual malt on the palate.

Medium bodied and a little astringent.

Not something I could drink alot of. The alcohol amplifies the sweetness, even though there there are enough hops to mellow this out. A nice find for me. Years ago, I could find this brewer on a regular basis. Not anymore. Good to find something by them again.

A: The beer is crystal clear yellow in color and has a moderate amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a finger high bright white head that died down, leaving some patches of bubbles on the surface and a collar around the edge of the glass.
S: Light aromas of herbal and spicy hops are present in the nose.
T: The taste is similar to the smell and has hints of initial malty sweetness that are quickly balanced out by a light amount of hop bitterness. Hints of spicy hops are present in the finish.
M: It feels medium-bodied and smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation. Faint bits of warmth from the alcohol are perceptible.
O: I found this beer to be a little more drinkable compared to others in the style. It would still make for a good beer to drink outside because it has a decent amount of maltiness and bits of alcohol warming.

On draft at The Lark, East Northport, NY.

Poured a dark straw hue with a one finger foamy white head. There was good retention and lacing.

The smell featured bready malts, a slight honey and an herbal hop.

The taste consisted of sweet round malts, a grassy and herbal balancing hop and was a touch metallic. There was a slightly overly sweet finish.

The mouthfeel relatively light and round.

Overall a clean tasting and enjoyable bock.

This beer has a deep brassy color and poured with a light frothy tan head. It has a grassy aroma. The flavor is grainy at first. It then becomes slightly and then sweet. The mouthfeel is a bit heavy and slick. The body stays carbonated but the head retainability is not that great. It also has a somewhat warm finish.

Appearance: clear gold with a medium head. Nice lacing.

Smell: light fruit with almost no hops. Malt, Malt, Malt - it is a Bock after all.

Taste: a tad sweeter than expected but with nice grainy notes.

Mouthfeel: medium bodied.

Drinkability: Good. I would recommend this Helles Bock to anyone interested in the style. It's not overpowering and won't turn anyone off due to one characteristic being too noticeable.

Poured from bottle into a .5 liter Schwaben Brau Seidel.

Slight amber color, completely clear, expected from a Maibock.

Big giant head that dissapates quickly leaving a small (1/8th inch) foam for the whole drink.

Big malt aromas. There is a citrus quality to it as well.

Big malt flavors as well. Very, (almost too) sweet, reminds me more of a Doppelbock, but crisp, not cloying. You can tell the extra alcohol is there, but it doesn't get in the way of enjoying the beer.

Not an every day beer, but it's a nice seasonal brew, and I'm glad I got some before the season ended. I'll buy some next spring too.

Heller Bock pours like a typical Maibock... Ultra clear body, lots of carbonation, good head production but little retention after a bit. Fine lacing does last all the way through.

Aroma is grainy and grassy with a slight hint of lemon.

The taste is a little more on the sweet side. I was expecting more of a cooked veggie taste. A small hint of caramel and cereal grain, but does quickly give way to a metallic like finish.

This feels light and crisp and surprisingly refreshing... The higher ABV content is nicely masked and this could sneak up on you.

Overall a very well balanced brew and surprisingly refreshing even due to the higher ABV than most brews available here in das Deutschland.
