Poured from the 500mL can into a weizen glass.

A: The beer is a nice bright color, very hazy, with a good amount of the distinctive weizen head.

S: Spicy with lots of banana and gum. Good bready malt character in there as well. A great representation of the banana bread character a weizen can have...

T: Spice and subdoued yeast character. Sweet with bubble gum and some citrus but mostly sweet bread. Finishes with another nice spicy note. This is smooth all the way through with lots of character.

Overall a good representation of this style for me. Not a lot of bite, which could be a good or bad thing depending on your preference. A bit thin in the mouthfeel department, but I love the smooth bready taste and smell of this beer, and it's just sweet enough. Probably would pick this up again.

Review from BeerAdvocate Magazine Issue #36 (Jan 2010):

Cloudy with a 100-percent chance of sticky lacing. Banana bread nose with a kiss of lemon and clove in the back. Earthy, musty yeast meets sweet, bready malt; cloves come in right on time to break up the sweetness a bit. Vague hopping drops a mild herbal tone in the middle. Ripe fruit really does not develop until the finish.

Among the handful of well-known imports that may be overshadowed, a worthy try for the wheat lover in you, if you don't have access to locally brewed versions of high quality.

Mid sized bottle. w/o freshness/brewing date info. Pours darker apricot/sludgy brown, cloudy , under a wonderful puffy one inch head, that stays. It slowly eases into a mottled pillow of light khaki froth and leaves a mustache tickling pillow on top of this tasty offering. Plenty of strands of stick. Nose is the expected fruity, yeasty melange. Nice tasting and easy drinking German wheat. Bananas, light cloves/coriander all add to the fun. On the lighter side adding to easy drinkability. Helped wash down a chicken sausage sandwedge with ease. First time I've tried this one and I like it. Well worth a try.

Nice little Hefe Weis beer. It's not the best out there but its a good one. Taste not to strong of a yeast taste and not to watered down with a pleasant after taste. I would recommend this beer to my friends to drink at home. I love wheat beers and this while not being top 3 material is def worth a try.

Not too often do I find a Hefe in a local store...Especially an import!

Poured from the classy looking bottle into my Bubba Gump Weizen glass this beer is a cloudy deep gold and has an absolutely MONSTROUS white head that eventually dropped to about half an inch leaving splotchy lace. With the cascading fine bubbles and that head, this is one impressive looking beer!

Has a distinct hollow yeasty earthy aroma.

Tastes like grainy apple and semi green banana with a creamy semi full mouthfeel. I noticed a hint of lemony rind on the last sip of the beer. Dry clean finish. Cabonation is not as noticeable in the mouth as it is in the glass.

This could find a spot in my fridge again soon.

I brought a 500ml can home from a recent trip to Europe. The beer poured a cloudy deep golden color, good head that dissapates quickly. Smell is includes cloves and fainted hint of banana, lemon and spices. The mouthfeel is light to medium body with the taste similar to the smell, with more banana being more pronounced. Not the best I've tried, but one you can drink easily.

Found at Monkland SAQ

A- Something between yellow and brown. Opaque. Can't see through at all even though the Molson Dry glass I poured it in is quite slender. Head didn't last very long but it seemed light and fragile.

S- Apple and banana purée. A bit of toasted wheat.

T- Bready and yeasty but the banana is still very present as well as some of the apple. A tiny touch of hops and a american adjunct lager bite. Bit of a lemony character.

M- Medium carbonation. Moderately dry. Full body.

O- Good beer. Cures a hefeweizen craving just fine. I could buy it again.

Pours a dirty golden color with a nice white head that dissipated into a nice cap but left no lacing. The smell is typical hefe, good banana, bubble gum and clove smell, juicy, very nice hefe aromas. The taste is unfortunately not as great as the smell. The taste is of banana cream pie but is cut short by a sharp green apple bitterness, a bit malty. The feel is light but not watery, a nice wheat edge, finishes very balanced. A very good hefe, could use some more banana, bubble gum or clove flavors. Respectful.

A 500 ml bottle. A darkish, burnt orange gold liquid with a good thick head that while beautiful does not leave much lacing. Cloudy with yeast. Aggressive carbonation has bubbles streaming up all over the place.

Smell is lemony and sweet banana. Fruity yeast esters follow with a healthy wheat malt body to tie it together. A hint of clove.

Taste is just wonderful, an extension of the nose. A prominent lemon and a banana combination. Strong wheat twang and yeasty fruitiness. Gently hopped, the bitterness is quenching and clean and leads to a mild fresh crescent roll taste on the palate.

Mouthfeel is crisp and and clean. Effervescence is just right, quite lively but not overpowering. A light weight and smooth caress of the mouth.

Drinkability is first rate. This is a great hefe for sessioning, or anything else. Top notch beer

Just finished a great dinner and decided to dig around the old fridge, pulled this guy out. COst $2.50 for the pint sized bottle.

Pours into an Aventinus glass with Blonde on Blonde filling the space in the background. Initial pour leaves a nice head, but it falls quickly to what looks like a calm and murky pond. No lacing and a barely noticeable wine rim around the edges. Its autumn brown and the bubbles hug the glass where it protrudes out - waiting for their turn to blast off towards the light above. Bubbles exploding where liquid meets air replicating a really poorly trained firing squad. The base has an orangish yellow tinge to it, and at the very bottom it is almost clear with more bubbles popping and locking. Nice looking for sure, but would love the head to stick around for at least a bit.

Smells a bit musty, and the candy sweetness jumps upward with a nice little effort. The wheat is very present, and I get all the typical hefe smells of spices, banana, clove, etc.

Maybe it is too cold, maybe it is the fact we just cooked up some delicious sweet pepper and vinegar pork chops - but the taste glides off the palate very quickly. The malt really comes out in the taste, and it is extremely true to the style - with very strong bazooka joe bubble gum flavors.

Nice carbonation, just wish it had more body. It doesn't explode like I wish it would - if that makes sense. Which is weird, because even now - 20 minutes after opening the bottle bubbles are still torpedoing towards through the beer for a chance at the surface.

Its definitely drinkable, if not almost a bit too watery.

All in all, a good example of the style and at $2.50 a pint at retail - you just can't go wrong.

Can: Poured a light yellowish color weizen with a nice pure white foamy head with good retention and some light lacing. Aroma consists of light bubblegum notes with some wheat malt. Taste is also dominated by light notes of wheat with some light bubblegum ester. Body is too light for style with good carbonation. This is too watery to be interesting with a serious lack of character.

Can bought at SAQ. Beer color is yellow with some oranges notes on the edge. Head is made of small bubbles. It disappear quite fast. The beer is opaque.

The aroma is all bananas with some coriander. Pretty simple but effective. Smell is good. Taste is strongly bananas, however the intensity is medium to light. A good Hefeweizen. Refreshing. Little dry. Good for hot summer days.

Appearance: Two fingers of head with good retention. Very cloudy, with a dark gold-to-amber color. Left plenty of lacing down the glass.

Smell: Mostly banana esters, and a bit of bread. Sweet malt also.

Taste: A little on the sweet side. Wheat, not as much banana as in the smell, a little clove.

Mouthfeel: Light to medium body. Plenty of carbonation, almost too much for the style. Finishes crisp.

Overall: An easy drinking weissbier, but not outstanding. I would drink it again.

Can bought in Beijing China, super cloudy pour into a pint glass and aroma is lacking that lemon most desire in a wheat. Very chalky mouthfeel brings this one down, can overcome that once you have a couple quick licks. For the price this one is worth it.

Poured out of a bottle to a very standard hefe opaquely yellow. Head disappeared quickly on mine.

Smells very nice. Rich. Warm. Banana. Thick.

The taste is so smooth and very mellow. The flavor is actually quite subtle and not very present. Lingering aftertaste is almost non existent. Doesn't match the scent.

Mouth feel is distinctly flat for me.

Man I thought by the smell this would be amazing. A very average session hefe.

I had out of a 25 ounce bottle. It's completely opaque and pure gold. Great, thick, foamy head and lots of lace. Has a very wheaty scent. Nice start.

It's a very sweet hefe with some bitterness in the back of the mouth. Certainly high quality and despite the price ($7.99 for the bottle) I can't complain.
