I tried this at the Grapevine location. It poured a clear copper with white head that is leaving a spotty lace. The scent had faint citrus notes. The taste was nicely balanced and easy to drink with fruity presence. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall its a solid beer.

Undated can at 42 degrees into a hand washed and dried JK snifter
Aroma – spicy rye and malt, rye fades but malt lasts
Head large (Maximum 4.8 cm, aggressive pour), off white, creamy with rocks, diminishing to a six mm ring and complete layer with varying thickness
Lacing good – wide partial rings of tiny to small bubbles
Body dark orange, clear
Flavor – well balanced malt and hops, starts slightly sweet with a little malt flavor and rye spiciness. No alcohol, no diacetyl
Palate medium, almost creamy, soft carbonation

A very good pale ale in an IPA world. I feel this is vastly underrated.

Appearance: A clear red gold body is surmounted by a moderate, fine-beaded off-white head, with good retention. Thick, unbroken lacing coats the glass walls. Profuse, minute bubbles drift lazily to the surface.

Aroma: Grassy and grapefruit hop aromas are dominant, the sweet rye notes provide a solid supporting presence in the aroma.

Taste: Opens with strong rye notes and pleasant pine and grapefruit hops. As the taste progresses, the hops and sweet rye intertwine in a complex melange, with neither yielding to the other. The finish is as the taste began, with neither hops nor rye yielding the stage to the other. Finishes with a balance of sweet and bitter notes.

Mouth feel: Soft to the touch, very full and pleasant.

Drinkability/notes: Very pleasant and drinkable.

Presentation: Packaged in a standard twelve-ounce aluminum can, served in a New Belgium Brewing chalice.

A: pours light Amber body with thick white head with nice retention and lacing
S: sweet, citrus notes with some spicy notes
T: subtle, earthy notes with a sweet, slightly citrus finish
M: medium bodied and fairly smooth
D: nice mouthfeel and taste combo; decent drinking beer

This is a local inexpensive beer that I've had many times including last night.

(L) It has a hazy amber hue with a thin white head.

(A) It has a modest bready sweet aroma.

(T) It has a taste of sweet malts, rye, and citrus, a bit bland but it is good drinking when it’s hot.

(F) It is smooth and light.

Orange bodied and a fairly hard pour generates a thick and fluffy off-white head that leaves some lacing.

Peppery spicy rye and caramel malt with orange and floral hops(Cascade?) Mild aroma.

Smooth and light on the palate. Light bitterness. Flavor brings the aroma with some breadiness. Flavor is a little more engaging for me than the aroma.

Appearance:
Amber-gold color, chill haze. Some carbonation. Mid-size head, disappears slowly.

Aroma:
Bready, caramel, a little citrusy.

Taste/Finish/Body:
Sweet, bready, caramel, a little rye. Hop bitterness is moderate, mostly citrus. Finish is crisp and semi-dry. Medium bodied, crisp, refreshing, highly drinkable.

Overall:
It's a very good Rye Pale Ale.

On tap at the DFW airport, I liked this better than it looks like others have. A clear but darker color to it, copper, with a short and fading white head, but awesome lacing. I like the flavor, but I just don't get the rye. It's maltier, sweeter, but no rye spice at all, and almost an incomplete fermentation sort of vibe to it. Hips are flavorful and fresh, but lower dosed than I like in the style, and with very little bitterness. As a result the beer lacks crispness, but drink ability is not compromised due to nice carbonation, a fluffy round medium body, and being ice cold from the tap. My first beer from these guys, and I'm pretty neutral on it. Seems overly safe for a rye based brew, but I could drink a fair few of these, especially in the absence of any other craft brew here. I would like to try the higher dry hop version, that might really improve this, but to be great, it needs more rye malt and it needs to be drier. Still, I always relish the chance to try new beers when I travel, and I was more than pleased with this in that context.
