Finally got around to trying this CAMRA-recommended pub. I was expecting a wider selection of beer for some reason, but there were only 6 handpumps, one of them empty during my particular visit. However, I was happy to see that they were all relatively small breweries, most of them local. On the pumps tonight were Marston's Pedigree, Woodforde's Nelson's Revenge, Adnams Bitter, Wolfe's Golden Jackal, and Buffy's Mild. They also had the usual tap/bottled beers like Carlsberg, Guinness and Holsten to appease those of unimaginative palettes. Also a few wines, some mass-produced Belgian beers like Chimay and Leffe, and some alcopops and spirits.
It is located a bit off the beaten path (i.e.- if you were wandering around the city centre, you wouldn't find it), but if you got lost in the winding streets around the Norwich Cathedral, you just might stumble across it. They have outdoor seating during the milder seasons and a sizable interior seating area. Lots of dark wood and that typical "rustic English pub" look and feel.
Though I didn't try it, the food is "freshly prepared traditional food". From a quick scan of the menu, it seemed to be the usual English grub, but done-up a bit more fanciful. It's probably pretty good. The kitchen is open from 12-2:30 and 6-9.
