Poured into a Fremont small snifter. Pours a very dark brown with ruby highlights and a fine one finger khaki head with great retention and thick lacing. Aroma of toasted malt, light biscuit, chocolate; lightly nutty and a hint of lactose. Flavor is dark toasted malt with a nice level of char, drip coffee, light nuts and light dark chocolate. Medium bodied with active carbonation. A very nice dark brown ale. The level of toasted malt and char put this almost into porter or stout territory, but the malts have a bit more biscuity malt flavor. The char level is well supported by the malt and the light coffee and chocolate flavors really make this nicely balanced. Moderately dry in the finish. A really nice domestic take on a nut brown ale. Well done.

super dark brown, tannish head. dont know why we have a red wax cap, but okay.....
smells like typical adjuct crap.....
taste is much better than the aroma! a little nutty, not so much ADJUNCT CRAP in the flavor, a little thick on the tongue with some roasty maltiness...... this is pretty good! i like this! this is good beer! the label has a little round separate label which says "Oaked Brewed Edition". i dont think i'm tasting any oak in here but i like this brew a lot. seems a little heavy for the 5.8% but i love a good nut brown ale......

Quite dark brown in color with just a glint of ruby. Decent head and plenty of spritzy on the tongue. Some substance to the refreshing mouthfeel.
Brewery says the hops are Horizon and Willamette and rates the IBUs at 35. This is just nicely tangy with some scorched barley and a good dose of burnt sugar. Malty, but more dry than sweet. The aromatic hops add some liveliness but it's not very bitter.
The darker Legacy brews all seem to have that roasted, tangy character, even a touch of woodiness. Quite a pleasant quaff with more flavor than the average Brown and a nice touch of hops. On tap at the brewery out east near the Oceanside airport.
