I purchased a six pack of this from a liquor store in Minneapolis. Ichabod pours a cloudy orange hue with a small head and a bit of lacing. The scent is of nutmeg and cinnamon with a bit of pumpkin as well. The taste starts out heavily with the pumpkin spice aspect and at the end smoothed out with pumpkin. All in all this is enjoyable but there are better pumpkin beers out there.

1/9...pours a dark rusty amber, fast white foam that mostly settles out. Sweet pumpkin nose, very pie like. Light peppery spice, nutmeg, cinnamon, blended in with a light pumpkin. Noteworthy carbonation but not strong.

From the bottle, it pours orange amber with a small head. Malt a some spice in the nose. Malt and lots of spice in the mouth. Intriguing take on a pumpkin beer.

Orange-amber beer topped with a creamy foam. Smells of nutmeg, allspice, faint cinnamon..definitely pumpkin pie, it's a nice smell. Taste is a bit milder than the smell. It's bready and crackers, boiled pumpkin, with muted nutmeg and allspice, not much cinnamon. So it's not overly spiced, more pumpkin than spice, that's good in my opinion. Medium light body with mild carbonation. Overall it's got some decent pumpkin elements.

As a pumpkin beer fan, I REALLY like this for a session pumpkin beer. Not at all overpowering, but just enough to keep your mouth happy. Can't get enough of this one.

12 ounce bottle served in a pint glass.

Pours an opaque, dark amber color with a 2-finger head. Medium lacing.

Smells of fall spices (cinnamon & nutmeg) and pumpkin.

The taste is pretty good. Spices aren't as harsh as some pumpkin beers.

Not sure if I would buy a whole pack of these but definitely singles from time to time.

A: crystal clear; bronze in color; 1 finger off white head that receded slowly to a thin cap; no lacing;

S: cinnamon, nutmeg, and all spice;

T: a blend of pumpkin pie spices up front; nutmeg is predominant at mid-palate - a little harsh like it didn't get cooked off; back to a balance at the end;

M: medium bodied;moderate carbonation; very dry finish;

O: no pumpkin flavor, just the pumpkin pie spices;

L- orange/brown
S- can easily identify artificial pumpkin
T- pumpkin much more subtle than in the smell, maybe a hint of cinnamon
F- kind of heavily carbonated, pretty easy to drink, kind of smooth

Decent fall beer.

Pours amber with white head and nice lacing. Aroma is of grassy hops, pumpkin, cinnamon, nutmeg and caramel. Body is medium and smooth. Pumpkin, spices, grassy hops fill the mouth. Finish is long and spices. Pumpkin is very noticeable for me.

Pours a copper color with a finger of head. The nose has mild notes of seasonal spices but nothing overdone by any means. The body is solid and the mouthfeel is mildly creamy. The flavor incorporates pumpkin with pie spices and this offering finishes semi-dry.

There is a bold Amber color in this one. The smell is spicy, heady but not cloying. Notes of cinnamon and clove in the scent, and the taste takes this an adds pumpkin to the mix. Pumpkin is the dominant flavour with a little pop of spice in the aftertaste.

A dark amber color with a thin layer of white head that disappears quickly to leave a bit of lace around the top. Caramel malt and vegetable pumpkin aroma. Taste is similar to the smell with caramel, pumpkin, and light spices. light to medium body and carbonation. Overall nice pumpkin flavors but without any overpowering sweetness.

This is a great pumpkin beer. The look of it is a nice dark amber, clear body, and a nice white head that dissipates pretty quickly. The smell is really nice. Not the strongest smelling pumpkin ale I've tried, but the nose has a nice malty, pumpkin spice aroma to it. It smells a lot like pumpkin pie. Delicious! The taste is always the best part, right? Well Ichabod has a wonderful pumpkin pie flavor with lots of cinnamon up front. It is a really nice taste of fall. The mouthfeel is medium in texture, nice carbonation. The actual pumpkin makes the mouthfeel nice and smooth. Overall, a great pumpkin ale. One of my favorites this year. I would drink this over and over!

Appearance: This beer pours a beautiful deep amber/orange color with a nice tan head that lingers.

Smell: This beer smells like pumpkin pie in a glass. There is a hint of the hops but it is in the background of the spices.

Taste: This beer tastes like it pumpkin pie in a glass. You can taste the pumpkin balanced by the spices. The hops are light and in the background.

Mouthfeel: This has a has a nice sweet body.

Overall: The best pumpkin beers have real pumpkin in the mash. Mediocre pumpkin beers just have the spice blend. This is one of the best pumpkin beers on the market in West Michigan.

12oz bottle poured into a pint glass.

A: Red-orange color with good clarity. Bubbly off-white head stands at a half inch and leaves behind clumps of lacing.

S: Gourdy pumpkin, cinnamon and nutmeg, light grain and caramel, floral hops. Simple, but not bad.

T: Cinnamon and nutmeg are more forward, pumpkin flavor and sweet malts mingle. Barley and hints of candy shell and caramel. Soft hop bitterness. Grain and fading spices on the finish.

M: Medium body. Soft and creamy. Moderate carbonation. Smooth and easy.

O: It really isn't bad. It's well balanced actually, with the spices and pumpkin flavor feeling natural and well-integrated. Easily drinkable too. I think I've just hit the point where it's impossible for me to care about a pumkin beer at all.

Pretty sure this is my first pumpkin spice beer, and honestly I ordered it (draft) just for the tick. But this one really surprised me. Cinnamon and ginger for sure, but in a good way. This is a nice change of pace, and I may need to find some more of the style this fall.

Poured into a mug.

A: Orange in color with a quickly fading off white head.
S: Pumpkin pie spice, some bread notes and maybe some actual pumpkin.
T: Similar to the nose. Spices up front with some caramel malts and bread crust.
F: Pretty thin bodied with a pretty decent amount of carbonation.
O: Not the best pumpkin ale out there, but enjoyable nonetheless.

I grabbed this because I wanted to try a new pumpkin ale and I like this brewery. Nice reddish orange color with not much of a head although it never dissipated. Smell wasn't very prominent at the start but increased as it warmed. Taste wasn't as in your face as Pumking (which I like a great deal) but was a nicely smooth combination of spices. It is good enough but I think the only way I have this again is if nothing I like more is available.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a snifter.

Smells of real pumpkin and the classic spices of Thanksgiving pumpkin dishes, with hints of ginger, pumpkin, and nutmeg.The flavor is right in line with what I expect from a lower ABV pumpkin beer: subdued pumpkin/vegetable, with some prominent spice and low bitterness. Not sweet or dry to me, but right down the middle. I enjoy it quite a bit, and perhaps batch variability accounts for the uncommonly low BA score.

The bottle describes this as a Pumpkin Amber Ale.

A : Pours a festive hazelnut brown color (like autumn leaves), and an appreciable amount of head (forming 3 fingers at my measurement), and slowly receding to a dense foamy layer of 1/2 finger resting on top. Some light lacing is left behind. The body is roughly 80% transparent.

S : Some baked pumpkin cookie, pumpkin spice, nutmeg, ginger, and clove. Clean chlorine-infused water smell is also prevalent. Light hop trailing behind it. The bouquet is a little hard to nose and very washed out, but the smells are there.

T : A nice amount of spiced hop and gourd out front, meshing with a dry rub of spices (nutmeg, ginger root, cinnamon). The heaviest spice here is probably the ginger root. Cinnamon trailing slightly behind. It ends hoppy with a light wash of gourd. I'm surprised by the amount of palatable hop in this beer.

F : Light-to-medium bodied, and lightly creamy with a touch of stickiness. It ends partly dry.

O : An okay Pumpkin Ale. Lacking in the abundant maltiness that I am fond of in my Autumn beers, but for more hop-conscious drinkers this one will be a delight. Definitely a change up from most Pumpkin ales.

New Holland Ichabod.

This beer has been on my wants for years and years. Starting back to when I started drinking craft in 2012. At long last, I finally found a fresh single. Hoping it was worth the long, self inflicted wait

Look - Pours a clear well filtered amber with a massive off white head that forces a few stops before you can finally empty the bottle. Head so far has retained quite well and carbonation appears almost non existant. Leaves a good amount of sticky lacing. 4.

Smell - Cinnamon with some slight touches of nutmeg and a bit of nuttiness and pie crust. It really does not have a prevelant nose to be honest. 3.

Taste - Cinnamon spice and pie crust immediately followed by a moderate dosage of ginger and...well that's about it. 3.5.

Feel - Light though very creamy bodied with just a touch of carbonaion. Goes down a bit watery. 3.5.

Overall - Well...It is more like if you were to take Pumking and remove half the flavor and label it a light pumpkin ale. It is certainly sessionable and very easy to drink, there simply isn't a whole lot in terms of explosive flavors. After such a long wait I was pretty disappointed with this one. 3.5.

Pours a rocky off white head with copper colored beer. Pumpkin, cinnamon, and nutmeg nose. Not sweet or over board on the spice. To my taste the cinnamon and nutmeg over power the pumpkin but is still really drinkable. This brewery always does a good job and I try everything they make.

L: Nice clear orange color.

S: Smells like sweet pumpkin with a slight happens to it

T: A light, sweet pumpkin flavor with a bit of spices. Not quite as heavy as I prefer. There is a bit of hop bitterness as well.

F: Light feel, light carbonation (but enough)

O: A decent pumpkin beer, but I prefer something with a more strength to the flavor. Decent for what it is though.

No date on bottle. Pours hazy amber with with some debris. Smells of pumpkin and spice, very nice. The taste follows closely but is lacking; almost watered-down. The carbonation is low-medium and body is full. Overall, a great smell but lacking in punch.
