Pretty sure this is my first pumpkin spice beer, and honestly I ordered it (draft) just for the tick. But this one really surprised me. Cinnamon and ginger for sure, but in a good way. This is a nice change of pace, and I may need to find some more of the style this fall. (272 characters)

Poured into a mug.

A: Orange in color with a quickly fading off white head.
S: Pumpkin pie spice, some bread notes and maybe some actual pumpkin.
T: Similar to the nose. Spices up front with some caramel malts and bread crust.
F: Pretty thin bodied with a pretty decent amount of carbonation.
O: Not the best pumpkin ale out there, but enjoyable nonetheless. (360 characters)

I grabbed this because I wanted to try a new pumpkin ale and I like this brewery. Nice reddish orange color with not much of a head although it never dissipated. Smell wasn't very prominent at the start but increased as it warmed. Taste wasn't as in your face as Pumking (which I like a great deal) but was a nicely smooth combination of spices. It is good enough but I think the only way I have this again is if nothing I like more is available. (450 characters)

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a snifter.

Smells of real pumpkin and the classic spices of Thanksgiving pumpkin dishes, with hints of ginger, pumpkin, and nutmeg. The flavor is right in line with what I expect from a lower ABV pumpkin beer: subdued pumpkin/vegetable, with some prominent spice and low bitterness. Not sweet or dry to me, but right down the middle. I enjoy it quite a bit, and perhaps batch variability accounts for the uncommonly low BA score. (462 characters)

The bottle describes this as a Pumpkin Amber Ale.

A : Pours a festive hazelnut brown color (like autumn leaves), and an appreciable amount of head (forming 3 fingers at my measurement), and slowly receding to a dense foamy layer of 1/2 finger resting on top. Some light lacing is left behind. The body is roughly 80% transparent.

S : Some baked pumpkin cookie, pumpkin spice, nutmeg, ginger, and clove. Clean chlorine-infused water smell is also prevalent. Light hop trailing behind it. The bouquet is a little hard to nose and very washed out, but the smells are there.

T : A nice amount of spiced hop and gourd out front, meshing with a dry rub of spices (nutmeg, ginger root, cinnamon). The heaviest spice here is probably the ginger root. Cinnamon trailing slightly behind. It ends hoppy with a light wash of gourd. I'm surprised by the amount of palatable hop in this beer.

F : Light-to-medium bodied, and lightly creamy with a touch of stickiness. It ends partly dry.

O : An okay Pumpkin Ale. Lacking in the abundant maltiness that I am fond of in my Autumn beers, but for more hop-conscious drinkers this one will be a delight. Definitely a change up from most Pumpkin ales. (1,189 characters)

New Holland Ichabod.

This beer has been on my wants for years and years. Starting back to when I started drinking craft in 2012. At long last, I finally found a fresh single. Hoping it was worth the long, self inflicted wait

Look - Pours a clear well filtered amber with a massive off white head that forces a few stops before you can finally empty the bottle. Head so far has retained quite well and carbonation appears almost non existant. Leaves a good amount of sticky lacing. 4.

Smell - Cinnamon with some slight touches of nutmeg and a bit of nuttiness and pie crust. It really does not have a prevelant nose to be honest. 3.

Taste - Cinnamon spice and pie crust immediately followed by a moderate dosage of ginger and...well that's about it. 3.5.

Feel - Light though very creamy bodied with just a touch of carbonaion. Goes down a bit watery. 3.5.

Overall - Well...It is more like if you were to take Pumking and remove half the flavor and label it a light pumpkin ale. It is certainly sessionable and very easy to drink, there simply isn't a whole lot in terms of explosive flavors. After such a long wait I was pretty disappointed with this one. 3.5. (1,167 characters)

Pours a rocky off white head with copper colored beer. Pumpkin, cinnamon, and nutmeg nose. Not sweet or over board on the spice. To my taste the cinnamon and nutmeg over power the pumpkin but is still really drinkable. This brewery always does a good job and I try everything they make. (286 characters)

L: Nice clear orange color.

S: Smells like sweet pumpkin with a slight happens to it

T: A light, sweet pumpkin flavor with a bit of spices. Not quite as heavy as I prefer. There is a bit of hop bitterness as well.

F: Light feel, light carbonation (but enough)

O: A decent pumpkin beer, but I prefer something with a more strength to the flavor. Decent for what it is though. (383 characters)

No date on bottle. Pours hazy amber with with some debris. Smells of pumpkin and spice, very nice. The taste follows closely but is lacking; almost watered-down. The carbonation is low-medium and body is full. Overall, a great smell but lacking in punch. (254 characters)

3/13/15 (Bottle) - Nice dark orange pour, pillow white head and mild carbonation. Pumpkin, hops and cinnamon among the sweet aromas. Taste a nice blend of sweet fruit and bitter hops. Light crisp beer easy going down, not much kick. (233 characters)

Appearance - 4/5
A beautiful 2 fingers of beige-colored head when I poured, dissipated to about 1 cm within a minute or so. A very hazy bright orange color. If you look closely, you can see lots of carbonation rising at a fairly quick rate. You can also see a lot of particles in the beer. Overall, a nice look.

Smell - 4.25/5
Hops, nutmeg, brown sugar, pumpkin, cinnamon. The smell is very sweet and delicious. The pumpkin smell is really nice, like a pumpkin pie. Overall this beer smells like an excellent pumpkin pie.

Taste - 3.5/5
Hops, pumpkin, nutmeg, pumpkin pie, brown sugar. I remember liking this beer a lot in the past, but honestly the beer is not really very flavorful. The taste seems kind of watery, and none of the fall flavors are easily detectable. The beer is sweet, easily drinkinable though.

Mouthfeel - 3.5/5
The beer is medium-full in body. The carbonation is moderate. It is fairly creamy. Perhaps a little bit watery, but overall a nice feel in the mouth.

Overall - 4/5
I remember this used to be my go-to fall beer. Now that's it been probably a year since I had it last, and I've gotten more serious about beer, it doesn't taste as good as I remember. Still, if you want a fall beer with very subtle fall flavors, this is a good choice. (1,269 characters)

Aroma has a spicy overtone, mainly cloves and cinnamon, plus a hint of pumpkin. Pours a dark coppery amber with a decent light tan head that leaves plenty of lacing. Flavor is not strong, but enjoyable, a malty core plus pumpkin and cloves and an earthy underpinning. Edgy texture is about average in the fizz and body departments. If not memorable, a good beer for fall. (371 characters)

Bottle sampled. Slight whiff of nutmeg on the nose. Has a deep dark orange hue that gives credence to the use of real pumpkin here. The spices take a back seat - bitter and sweet pumpkin takes control of the flavor profile. Body is a little watery - maybe to be expected at a lower ABV. (286 characters)

A - Orange tinted brown, mostly opaque, but with some light passing through. White head, short, which fades to a thin film over the top. Lacing is moderate.

S - Spice first, but with subtle squash notes from the pumpkin itself. Caramel and bread elements, as well.

T - Not quite as robust as the nose, with the spice notes of clove and cinnamon fading into squash notes and closing with a slightly sour aspect.

M - Moderate carbonation and a clean close.

O - Nothing wrong here, but also nothing terribly interesting. A well-crafted pumpkin beer that delivers decent spice and a reasonable taste of the pumpkin itself, but not a brew that immediately drives me to seek another. (685 characters)

I had this from a bottle, poured into a pint glass. It was a dark orange and smelled faintly of pumpkin pie. The pumpkin flavors are there, without disguising the fact that it is a beer. A real solid seasonal and fine pumpkin ale. (230 characters)

Soapy head that always has me worried. You definitely get the pumpkin and spice in the smell and also in the taste but it is all kinda mild. Nothing really jumps out at you. A little off in the carbonation. Nothing special, way to many Pumpkins out there to go here. (270 characters)

I don't know about this one. It was too much of a spice beer to me. It almost had a soapy chemical taste to me. I was not impressed at all really. I have had this one in the past and it was pretty decent to the best of my recollection, but this batch was just bad. Maybe my palate has changed or this was just a bad batch but it was not very good. Honestly it was a drain pour for me and the only reason it got as good of a review in points as I gave it was because I remember it was better in the past.

Color: Same as just about all of them

Aroma: Spices, but soapy almost

Taste: Nasty, bad combination of poorly executed spices and soap. Very much a chemical flavor going on on this one, which for New Holland is a surprise because they usually make some decent beer.

Overall: This year is a solid pass! Past years seemed to be much better. (848 characters)

Amber in color with on off white head. Faint Brussels lacing. Aroma of nutmeg, cinnamon, and pumpkin permeate out of the glass. The taste is a bit muted with the spices not really discernable like I found in the aroma. I think it's probably a bit too much nutmeg. The mouth is moderately carbonated and slightly watery. (323 characters)

12oz bottle into a pint glass.

Pours a hazy dark gold with a one finger white head that disappears quickly into some soapy bubbles. No lacing to speak of.

Aroma has loads of clove and cinnamon with some vanilla and graham cracker. Pretty typical for the style but nothing wrong with it.

The flavor is where this beer really stands out. Starts off much like the aroma but has much more depth. Cinnamon seems to dominate with plenty of clove as well. Sweetness is held in check with a drying bitterness making this very drinkable. Mouthfeel is a little watery but it doesn't really detract.

Overall, one of the better lower-alcohol pumpkin beers out there. Great flavor and very drinkable. (693 characters)

Poured into my Pumking Goblet....

A - Dark, hazy, orange/amber color, 1/4" head that never completely goes away. Good looking pumpkin beer.
S - Great aroma of pumpkins and spice, no doubt you are about to taste a pumpkin beer.
T - Here is where it slips a little. After the great looks and aroma, you'd expect a strong pumpkin and spice flavor. Ichabod holds back a bit, so you get a solid, tasty beer with some pumpkin and spice and a slightly bitter finish.
M - Medium mouth feel, flavor leaves quickly, low carbonation.
O - This is a good beer, very drinkable and a good place to start for pumpkin newbies. Good middle of the road pumpkin ale. (647 characters)

My first pumpkin beer. I most admit, i didn't want to try a beer with pumpkin smell or taste. Pours fairly clear. Honey golden colour. Spicy pumpkin, nutmeg/allspice aroma (go figure) Kinda sweet with a ginger taste. Mild pumpkin and pumpkin spice. Kinda tastes like pumpkin ginger ale! Nice beer! (298 characters)

Poured into a balloon glass.

A brownish burnt orange body holds up a cream colored head that recedes to a wisp. Light foamy lacing remains on the glass. The aroma is strong with the expected: clove and nutmeg come strong, with a hint of cinnamon. The taste is buttery with all of the spices playing their part. It's exactly as I'd want it. Mouthfeel is slightly creamy.

Overall, glad I tried it but nothing unexpected. It's got all the right spices and has a good mouthfeel. (477 characters)

12oz bottle, 5.2% ABV, and the last straggler from a mixed-sixer procured at the Liquor Mart in Glendale, Colorado last week during GABF down time.

This beer pours a hazy, medium copper amber colour, with one chubby finger of wanly puffy, densely foamy, and slightly bubbly tan head, which leaves some decent fire lick lace around the glass as thing slowly abate.

It smells of sharp, metallic cinnamon, further nutmeg and clove spice, grainy, gritty pale malt, a touch of caramel/toffee sweetness, subtle vegetal pumpkin flesh notes, and an earthy, sort of pumpkin patch dirtiness. The taste is bready, crackery, and grainy pale malt, nicely muddled nutmeg, cinnamon, and a hint of cardamom, a still understated toasted gourdish goodness, and more of that not-quite-hoppy earthy bitterness.

The carbonation is certainly present, in a lilting, frothy, and duly beguiling manner, the body a sturdy medium weight, and generally smooth, nothing else really in the parade ruining mood. It finishes on the sweet side, the malt and pumpkin carrying on, while the spice starts to sag, begging for a re-up.

A decent, straight-ahead pumpkin-pie emulating affair here, perhaps from that particular grandma whose spice measurements were always a tad suspect, but somehow everything still worked out fine in the end - enter the ABV, stage left. Anyways, tasty, and an appropriately old-school Samhain-worthy offering, all-around. (1,423 characters)

Not bad, had more aroma than flavor. Decent pumpkin flavor up front with some of the pie spicyness, but quickly faded as the beer went on, left just trace notes. (162 characters)
