2014 Vintage

The bottle pours with an amber/copper color, roughly 2 finger, off-whtie head that slowly fades, but never disappears.

Smell is rather faint with citrus and caramel sweetness taking center stage. Maybe hints of oak as the beer warms.

Taste follows the nose with a good balance between the aforementioned citrus and caramel, although the caramel sweetness begins to take the lead as the beer warms. Faint hints of oak characteristics show up late on the tongue after drinking.

Mouthfeel is medium from the sweetness, cut slightly by the citrus bitterness. Still a pretty crisp beer.

Overall, I was expecting a little bit more oak from an oak aged beer, not just trace amounts as it warmed. The beer itself was good, though maybe a bit sweet for an IPA.

New Holland is now available in my area for the first time so I tried this beer.

I started out with a Spiegelgau glass, and then I switched to a Pretty Things balloon glass which I often use for Bourbon barrel aged beers.

The beer poured a dark copper color with a one finger head.

The aroma is excellent, toffee oak and fruit. Unusual in an IPA.

The mouth feel was moderately carbonated.

As the beer warms up there was more oak in the taste and some fruit. There is a strong alcoholic finish in this beer despite it's lower ABV. The finish is quite nice and there is a pleasant hoppiness to it which balances with the alcohol finish.

Overall, a very interesting beer. I haven't tasted an IPA with such a strong oak presence.
I would have liked more toffee in the taste. A wider mouth glass is better for appreciating the beer.
