Poured from a 22oz. bottle into a Bell's tulip.
A- Pours a golden amber with a puffy one-inch white head. The head dissipates rather quickly, leaving some clingy lace and a frothy ring around the top of the beer.
S- Grassy hops on the forefront with a bit of citrus . The hop presence is a little subdued, but it does give way to a nice toasted oak and caramel presence...smells like a hoppy twix bar.
T- Even less hop presence in the taste, although there is a slight bitterness lingering on the finish. It begins with an earthy caramel flavor that bursts with caramelized sugar in the middle and then back to the earthy finish with its lingering hop bitterness. I would definitely like a bit more hops up front, especially if they could give more of a citrus presence.
M- Slightly undercarbed, but I really like the slick oily mouthfeel.
O- Worth buying once, and I wouldn't turn it down if it were given to me, but I probably won't be buying it again. Not bad, just not great.

L: Pours brilliant chestnut producing a 1” white foam collar that grips the side of the glass.
S: Vanilla, malt, fruit, melon.
T: Starts malty supported by big, large pitted fruit flavors and a hint of melon. Hoppy bitter finish.
F: Very creamy, medium full body, medium to medium low carbonation.
O: Nice, drinkable beer but needs just a little more cow bell.

I've tried a few of the "hatter" brews from New Holland, and this one seems to be the most underwhelming.
the oak age is something you either enjoy, or wish it was just absent in this type of beer.
this one may be the latter.
by all means try it if you like Oak Aged IPAs, but for me it takes away instead of adding.
regardless, it's an agreeable beer full of hoppy bitterness and the right balance of malt to add some would say an over the top sweetness, but goes well with the aging.
also, cheap and available.
