Enjoyed from a 22 oz bottle in pint glass. This black IPA pours a beautiful dark brown with reddish tints, HUGE almost brown head and fantastic soapy lacing. Nose of dark chocolate, dark coffee, figs, grapefruit, citrus hops, orange zest, and caramel malts. Flavors are sweet malts to the sides and front with caramel and dark fruits, bittering hops, floral hops, and citrus hops to the rear of the taste with grapefruit, resinous bittering hops, and even more hops. Bitter hop aftertaste with mild sweetness. Smooth mouth feel offset by the bracing hops.
Nice.

22 ounce bottle into signature pint glass, 2014 bottling. Pours fairly crystal clear very dark brown color with a 2 finger dense and rocky khaki head with great retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lasts. Dense soapy lacing clings down the glass, with a moderate amount of streaming carbonation retaining the head. Aromas of big grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, floral, grass, dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, dark bread, light char, and floral/roasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of citrus/pine hops and dark/roasted malt notes; with good strength. Taste of big grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, pine floral, grass, dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, dark bread, light char, and floral/roasted earthiness. Good amount of pine/roasted bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of grapefruit, lemon zest, orange peel, pine, floral, grass, dark chocolate, cocoa, coffee, dark bread, light char, and floral/roasted earthiness on the finish for a while. Damn nice complexity and balance of citrus/pine hops and dark/roasted malt flavors; with a nice crisp bitterness/sweetness balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a smooth, crisp, and fairly creamy/sticky mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is well hidden with minimal warming present after the finish. Overall this is an excellent black IPA. All around great complexity and balance of citrus/pine hops and dark/roasted malt flavors; and very smooth and crisp to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

22 oz bottle, dated 2014. Pours dark brown with a medium creamy light tan head that retains well and laces the glass.

The aroma is sweet cola with leathery roast and a little pine and fruit.

The flavor is sweet roasted chocolate malts with some fruity piney hops. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with low carbonation.

Overall, an OK sweet fruity black IPA.
