22 oz bottle split. Poured into a Founder's Kentucky Bfast glass. 27 degrees plato, 10.8% ABV, no date. Thanks to Sweemzander for bringing this!

A - Solid black in the glass and noticeable clear on the pour, Night Tripper pours like any other beer, not syrupy, but only releases a small, medium khaki head with low retention due to the alcohol level. A thin layer of foam stuck around.

S - A sprinkle of dry cocoa powder coats the boozy aroma of molasses, brown sugar, and candi sugar that accompanies the roasted malts. Coffee, lightly, and a heavily roasted aroma on the nose. No hops evident.

T - The alcohol doesn't hide anywhere in this beer. A lot of molasses comes out with the coffee flavor and cocoa hints. Not very interesting for an Imperial Stout. As with most of their High Gravity series, it seems to be overly boozy with a cloying sugary body. Mediocre for the style in flavor.

M - Full-bodied and creamy smooth with a hint of crisp light hops. The killer is the boozy, spicy alcohol that doesn't do this style/beer justice...

D - ...it should have a good warming finish with out being overly boozy but this is just not out of the ordinary. An imperial stout that doesn't offer anything new and only adds a sugar-rich, boozy flavor to what would be a good beer with out this.

Poured into a Due South Brewing Co. snifter. Bottleneck says A024 meaning it was bottled 1/2/14.

A- Pours a fully opaque black color with a 1/4 inch dark tan head that retains a bit before becoming a thick ring around the edge of the glass and randomly spackled surface foam. Semi-resilient lacing leaves a broken ring behind.

S- Sweet, roasty, somewhat boozy aroma gives off notes of vanilla, dark chocolate, coffee and some moderate char.

T- Dark roast comes on nicely, turns boozy mid-palate and gives way to a charry finish. The alcohol becomes even more apparent after a few sips. The chocolate and vanilla notes are there but struggle to be seen amid the heat and fume.

M- Somewhat creamy but gets a little lost in the alcohol burn. Also thick and a bit syrupy. Medium-low carbonation and a full body.

O- I was expecting better. Maybe I should've let the bottle sit for another 3-6 months? Just has too much heat and the flavors aren't properly aligned.
