Pours pitch black with a thin tannish head that dissipates relatively quickly.
Smells of right brown sugar malts and mild dark grains.
Taste is rich, with dark sugar sweetness and even a slight liquor flavor. This is balanced by a bitter toasted/roasted grain flavor.
Feels moderate to full, viscous, and barely carbonated, with just a tingle across the tip of the tongue.
A wonderful flavorful stout, not especially unique but hitting on all sixes where it counts. Just a very good representation of the style.

Poured into a Due South Brewing Co. snifter. Bottleneck says A024 meaning it was bottled 1/2/14.
A- Pours a fully opaque black color with a 1/4 inch dark tan head that retains a bit before becoming a thick ring around the edge of the glass and randomly spackled surface foam. Semi-resilient lacing leaves a broken ring behind.
S- Sweet, roasty, somewhat boozy aroma gives off notes of vanilla, dark chocolate, coffee and some moderate char.
T- Dark roast comes on nicely, turns boozy mid-palate and gives way to a charry finish. The alcohol becomes even more apparent after a few sips. The chocolate and vanilla notes are there but struggle to be seen amid the heat and fume.
M- Somewhat creamy but gets a little lost in the alcohol burn. Also thick and a bit syrupy. Medium-low carbonation and a full body.
O- I was expecting better. Maybe I should've let the bottle sit for another 3-6 months? Just has too much heat and the flavors aren't properly aligned.
