Poured from a bomber into a snifter at around 50°F

Appearance: Pours a dark brown but once in the glass is black with a one finger tan head

Smell: Chocolate, dark fruit, toffee

Taste: Bittersweet chocolate and roasted malts upfront, dark fruits in the middle, and fades into a toffee/molasses finish. The aftertaste is sort of bland however

Mouthfeel: Medium body and a bit thin compared to what I prefer in the style. Smooth with a moderately bitter finish. Not at all boozy for 11.5% as others have mentioned

Overall: All aspects were solid, but nothing extraordinary. I do think it drinks well for the abv. and have found beers boozier with less abv. The aftertaste is a bit bland, but the initial taste makes up for it. However, for almost $10 including tax for a bomber, I think there are much better options available (Old Rasputin, Founders) at a more reasonable price. Still worth a try. Cheers!

Appearance : Dark and Black... Faint ruby hues appearing at the bottom of the glass. Kaki colored head.

Aroma: Dark and foreboding, Really toasted grains and toasted bread. A touch of smoky char with Dark Chocolate in the back. Floral Booze tones all over the ale.

Body: The body like Dragon's Milk was a bit thin hovering within the high medium to low full mouthfeel. soft carbonation was nice in this ale.

Taste: Softer on the dark tones when I would of though, left some hollow points along the way that the bourbon aged version filled nicely. Coffee, Dark Chocolate, Toasted Grains and Char on the palate with a big floral booze all over the place.

Overall: Nice ale, right now I prefer the barrel aged version, but if this had about 2 years of age. A lot would change and this would be a steamer on an ale. Cheers!

I have always liked this brew. Pours a thick black with deep tan head and spider web like lacing. Smells of deep roasted grains, chocolate, some coffee, and more chocolate. Decadent mouthfeel, and velvety smooth. Tastes of sweet dark chocolate up front, coffee and roasted grains on the sides---do I detect some deep roasted barley in there for depth(!?), and medium hop bitterness on the back changing into a cocoa flavor on the aftertaste. Booziness comes through later---have a seat! Very nice. Very luxurious. Just a great imperial stout. CHEERS!

Appearance: black in color, 1/4 inch head, opaque, low carbonation

Smell: dark chocolate, smoke, and roasted malt

Taste: dark chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, and light caramel

Mouthfeel: heavy bodied, low carbonation, sweet and roasty

Overall: An above average rich and heavy imperial stout.. The alcohol is well hidden, but yet I feel like I have had more complex and interesting examples in the style. Not a beer I would pass up, but not one I need to rush to again.
