2014 version was 11.5% ABV.
Nice close to black color poured into my tulip glass.
Aroma of roasted coffee and a bit of chocolate as the beer warmed was very nice.
Taste followed the aroma. Coffee, dark chocolate, a bit of char. Nice bit of bitterness on the back end.
Overall, a better-than-average Imperial Stout from New Holland. At $8 for a bomber it was worth the experience.

Poured from a bomber into a snifter at around 50°F

Appearance: Pours a dark brown but once in the glass is black with a one finger tan head

Smell: Chocolate, dark fruit, toffee

Taste: Bittersweet chocolate and roasted malts upfront, dark fruits in the middle, and fades into a toffee/molasses finish. The aftertaste is sort of bland however

Mouthfeel: Medium body and a bit thin compared to what I prefer in the style. Smooth with a moderately bitter finish. Not at all boozy for 11.5% as others have mentioned

Overall: All aspects were solid, but nothing extraordinary. I do think it drinks well for the abv. and have found beers boozier with less abv. The aftertaste is a bit bland, but the initial taste makes up for it. However, for almost $10 including tax for a bomber, I think there are much better options available (Old Rasputin, Founders) at a more reasonable price. Still worth a try. Cheers!
