the 2014 vintage is 11.4% abv, and feels like all of t, this is an enormous stout, a nice example of the style, but probably in need of a little time in the cellar to mellow out and integrate a bit. jet black in color with a shiny obsidian finish and about a half inch of really fizzy tan head. a nose of heavy burnt barley bitterness and some rich oatmeal, and of course the alcohol. they come in separate waves, with a bitter bakers chocolate up front and a pronounced coffee element in the middle. tons of dark barley in this thing, really intense and palate coating. the booze is evident though, and makes it feel a little thinner and hotter than it needs to be, and the medium carbonation isnt quite enough to uplift it any more. im impressed by its flavor, but wish it was a little more refined in terms of feel. definitely a slow sipper, this will get a buzz on pretty quick if you let it. new holland so far to me, has not lived up to its hype. this is good beer, but its not incredible, and its not particularly distinct from other well made big stouts out there. i like it, but im not sure i would buy it again. glad i had buddies to share the bomber with.

22oz bomber into a snifter

Jet black pour with a slight beige head. nose has raisins, dark fruits, milk chocolate, slight coffee. dark fruits being the dominant aroma.taste is heavy with dark roasted malts and all of the previously mentioned characteristics being present. mouthfeel is thick and creamy. carbonation is mild.

overall better than i was expecting. would drink again.

Deep ebony hued this stout poured with an exceptionally thick light brown head that had very good lacing.

The nose is just weak. Notes of toasted malt, maybe chocolate and coffee but nothing off putting.

The nose does not do the flavor justice as its creamy, chocolatey, cocoa powdered and toasty. The finish is a strong roasted coffee that lingers on the tongue for quite a while.

The feel is dry yet has a marshmallow cream silkiness. Very nicely done as its a high gravity beer, 11.5 ABV, yet yields no evidence of such.

I was a set up to be disappointed when I smelled it but it delivered well where it counts.

poured 22oz bottle into chalice.

A - It is obsidian with only a slight dark brown on the very edge of my glass. A 1 finger tan head has nice retention and leaves behind very nice lacing.

S - Roasted malts, bakers and milk chocolate. There are also notes of coffee, dark fruit, maybe raisins and sorghum?

T - The flavors are well put together, yielding notes of dark roasted malt, raisins, bakers chocolate and rich milk chocolate. This is a bit sweeter than bitter and I love it! No need to age.

M - Rather standard medium body with normal carbonation.

O - A nice imperial stout that hits all the good notes. It is quite enjoyable and I recommend picking one up, maybe two.
