The color is a hazy golden amber. A pure white head pours a nice white head without spectacular retention that leaves light lacing.
The nose is fantastic: a mix of various fruits including apple, pear and strawberry with honey, grains and light spices (coriander). I could smell this all day long.
A fruit bouquet mixes with sweet honey and grains with some coriander and a gentle peppery spice. Fruits are apple, pear, strawberry and some lemon and orange citrus. There's also a gentle pale malt that forms a nice backbone and adds balance. This is a tasty beer.
This is a crisp, smooth brew. The body is a clean light to medium with moderate carbonation that plays well.
Drink this.
I'm beginning to think I may really like Saisons as a style.

Appearance: Mango colored/light amber

Smell: Coriander, Citrus, Strawberries, Alcohol

Taste: Orange, Strawberry, an airy citrus.

Mouthfeel: Great - full bodied, soft tannins

Drinkability: I'd say it's a sipper - but could session if you can stand up to the Farmhouse flavor. Definitely recommend as a entry-mid level farmhouse saison.

12oz to tulip glass, first time i've seen it in 12oz :D
pours a nice golden hue, foamy white head fades
smells of nice clean belgiany esters, spice

taste is of belgiany goodness, slightly sweet, nice light bitterness, smooth, a nice clean take on a saison with a good hop bitterness, balanced pretty well, and pairs great with dinner :D

mouthfeel is of nice medium-light carbonation, yeast esters hang around along with bitterness, alcohol is sneaky and shows itself halfway through the bottle. Overall I probably wouldn't want to session, but is nice in a single serving/with a meal.

Beer pours a hazy gold, and looks tasty but isn't anything terrifically amazing. The smell, however, is beyond fabulous. Wonderful, sweet honey and spice scent, set the table nicely for the eventual consumption. Taste of citrus fruits and bread, the sweet honey scent giving way to a honey taste. Nice mouthfeel, light and smooth. Incredibly drinkable, would enjoy this one during summer evenings.

S: Smells of coriander, yeast, hint of lemon

T: Kind of a spicy, peppery, citrus flavor. Also wheaty and malty.

M: Coats the mouth nicely, and goes down nice and smooth. medium/light bodies

D: Drinkability is good on this one. I'm sure that i will be enjoying some more of these on a nice hot summer day

The first thing that struck me was the nose on this. Absolutely grand. Just sweet honey and warm light spicing. I didnt want to take my nose out of this. The golden liquid looked just as nice. I was really impressed by the first sip, and each after. Just very very smooth, nice balance of flavors, and a bit of restraint in the spicing, which I appreciate.

Each sip makes me want another, which is my mark of a truly great beer. This was super drinkable, and I can't wait to try one on the patio on a warm summer day. Another winner from NH.

This beer pours a bright golden color with a nice fluffy white head. Has a tart fruity aroma of lemon and other citrus flavors. Tastes of dried orange and lemon peel with spicy ester and a hint of banana. Lots of carbination makes for a nice tingly mouthfeel. Drinkability is good, I could easily drink a few of these though the relatively high abv makes this beer unsessionable for me.

High Gravity version poured from a bomber into a tulip glass

A: Very appealing hazy golden color with foamy one inch head. Active carbonation shooting up from the bottom of the glass

S: Large dose of pepper and coriander followed by fresh cut grass and yeast

T: Peppery bitterness gives way to a biscuty yeast and malt backbone. Faint sweetness and lemon notes accent the predominant flavors

M: Extremely crisp carbonation, light to medium mouthfeel that sightly coats the tongue but finishes dry

D: I would be interested to try the new seasonal version that has lower ABV, but this is a very drinkable beer

A- Nice big fluffy off white head floats atop a hazy dull gold colored beer. Nice head retention with some lacing.

S- Nice fruity sweet aromas peach and banana. Some tartness reminded me of lemon peal through the aroma, also some herbal spice and dry pale grain aromas.

T- Dried orange and lemon peal bring out some spicy citrus flavors. Some fruitiness and light spicy ester.

M- Smooth and juicy at first then a nice citrus bite hits the tongue. This beer drys out about half way through and then the juicy mouth feel comes back in the end. Good carbonation and nicely refreshing.

Overall this is a pretty good Saison, it has nice character and subtle complexity.

Appearance: Poured with some white creamy frothy head that dissipated very little lacing. The beer is cloudy golden yellow

Smell: Very sweet and tangy, ripe banana, pear, and clove

Taste: Spicy ester, tangy sweet banana and citrus orange all balanced out with some malty character.

Mouthfeel: Good amount of carbonation providing a tingle on the tongue, medium/light body.

Overall: Really drinkable, good subtle flavors strengthen as it warms, but could have bolder flavors still. Not much alcohol is detectable. Good lighter version of the style.

Lightened pale straw color, much like a medium lemon juice hue and just as cloudy. It grows an emmense capping of starchy white foam that barely moves from its position once established. Lots of lacing in chunky, broken sheeting places itself across the glass with might.

Aroma is mostly dryish of chalky clove and mild wheat and lemon underneath.

Flavors are of a good portion to a well rounded wheaty malt sweetness, semi bready, pink bubble gum float up the sides and stick well with bready hints and lots of tender spices liven it up as it builds slightly with partial drying warm vapors of metalic clove and floral chalky hops.

Body is a fairly fullish medium kind of thing. Malty, but lofty and unchewy until late as it has a late return of bubblegummy hints sticking to the cheeks as the spices and dryness take the rest of the palate into a fun balancing act.

A solid Saison by New Holland. Quite drinkable with a nice little complexity and tone to it.

A - Poured from a bottle into a pint glass. Pours cloudy, hay colored with a thin white head that quickly dissipates.

S - Crisp apples, pears.

T - Yeasty, wheaty, with some white pepper bite, a bit of farmy funk, and citrus pop.

M - Medium bodied but sort of chewy with a good amount of carbonation.

A spicy saison that hasa nice white head and straw colored body. A little horse blanket barnyardy in the taste but also balanced with melon, fruity, yeasty characteristics. High carbonation. i'm not sure if the spelt comes through as much as any regular winter wheat would, not much of a difference. A very good offering from New Holland and a saison that does not disappoint.

A bit of spiceyness, and a good finish of bitterness. Deep golden with lots of initial white head. Acceptable neutral aroma. Good drinking, with above average mouthfeel, a tad honeyish and tangerine, a bit of sweet fruit and a tad of apple.Bomber of the stuff, more of a Belgian golden.

Nice hazy yellow with a fluffy white head, good lace.

Nose is low, but pineapple and other yeasty fruits come through.

Taste has pineapple, melon, limes, a bit of hops, really nice for this style, slight bit of horse-blanket, very lifting flavor for a summer type beer. Spiciness rounds the taste, finishes fruity with balance and little aftertaste. I would seek more funk here.

Light in the mouth yet good feel, easy to drink and no abv telling here, well hidden. Just a nice summer beer to have, nothing great. A gateway Saison? Sure.

Poured from the bottle a slightly hazy lemon gold with with a rich and creamy white head.

Aroma of sweet malts, yeast, banana, and grass.

The taste is very nice. Banana, bubblegum, yeast, sweet malts, grass, and fruit cocktail. Finishes very clean.

Lighter bodied, smooth and creamy, and lightly carbonated.

A nice little saison from New Holland. Easy drinking, smooth, and flavorful.

22 oz. bottle, poured into a 0.4 L Steiner Pils glass.

Tried 11 Nov 2008.

Small white head. Slightly cloudy sunflower yellow color. Peppery aroma, citrus and hay. Spicy sweet, yeasty, mild alcohol to start. Also coriander, citrus, fresh ginger, melon and green peppercorns. Medium body, sticky mouthfeel. Mild hoppy finish.

Tasty. Would get this again.

Poured a light golden color, nothing really fantastic. The smell was very yeasty, but also very much like a pilsner. From these humble beginnings, I was thinking that my investment in this bomber had been . . . . well a bomb. Fortunately this beer got better where it counts . . the taste department. It was very yeasty and like a plain old pilsner up front, kind of a one trick pony. As it and my Saturday early afternoon palate warmed, the beer started to become more complex. You could sense spices, particularly pepper, coming to the forefront. At 7.0%, this was extremely drinkable and I ended up enjoying the beer when it was all said and done. Was it worth the $9 I paid? Probably not, but as a one-off foray into a relatively new style for me, saison, I enjoyed myself. I will definetly keep trying different saisons and different beers from New Holland based on this experience.

Poured into a goblet. Translucent dull peachy gold color with a small white head. Nice aroma of typical Belgian ester notes such as apple, banana, pineapple, and orange. Tropical and sweet. Flavor is sweet up front with honey, pineapple, and slightly tart citrus. On the finish it becomes spicy with black pepper, and maybe a faint notion of earthy hops. This is definitely a sweeter saison, as the mouthfeel is not particularly dry. Body is hefty and there's more than enough carbonation. Pleasant beer overall.

Wow...awful saison. This is one style us Americans have never been able to pin down. Aroma was pale malt and a weird kind of "synthetic funk". Pour was a cloudy orange with a thin off white film for a head. Taste was very disappointing. Stale light malt mixed with sugar water. It literally tasted like sugar water. There is a great carbonation in this beer which made it drinkable, but none of the great flavors of a true saison are present.

From the bottle at a BA gathering the other night at Bailey's taproom

The beer pours a striking gold color with good head retention and lacing. The nose on this saison style is solid enough, though it's heavy on the wheat side. There is some underlying honey and spice, but it's dominated by the wheat aroma. The flavors on the palate replicate the nose, though I also get an underlying chardonnay flavor which I like. I was told the brewery used some chardonnay yeast in brewing this beer and it shows I think. The beer is fairly light on the palate, though the mouthfeel is still pretty good. The beer is not the least bit heavy or tiring on the palate, and drinkability is good.

While this didn't blow me away (and in fact paled when compared to the Troeg's Scratch 14 also on offer this evening), it was a nice enough beer. I would certainly order this one again. It's a nice solid, saison style beer.

Pours a slightly hazed, pale golden color with a foamy finger and a half of white head. Head settles to a thin lace and doesn't leave much stick.

Smell is quite grainy, with a hint of sweetness, and a good amount of spice. Black pepper especially. Some lemon zest, slightly sour, and earthy yeast, but overall it's a bit too grainy for my liking.

Taste has a bit more pale malt sweetness than the smell which really balances out that grainy character. Some grassy hops and lots of black pepper spicing are here, too. Some lemon and citrus flavor, too, plus some green apple and pear. Pretty substantial hop bitterness for a saison, and it mingles with a bit of grain through the finish. Nice flavor overall.

Mouthfeel is medium bodied, dry and bitter through the finish. Pretty smooth, nice mouthfeel.

This is a pretty solid saison, and a nice American version. I paid $8.49 for this bomber, which was maybe a bit much as compared to the quality - there are better options available in that price range. But still a nice beer, and worth a try for any fan of saisons.

i first tried this at the great lakes beerfest in racine wisconsin in early september. I made it a point to visit the new holland tent. We had a mug that came with our tickets so the first pour was about 4 ounces. I realy liked the smell and taste, the mouth feel was wondeful and drinkablitiy was top notch. I made sure all of the 40 friends that came with tried it we all agreed it was a great saison. Mid october i found some bombers of this beer in a liquor store and purchased 5 of them well worth it and waiting to buy more i highley recommend trying this one if you have not. By the way thanks to the guys at the beerfest who kept pouring my mug for me you guys were great
