22oz bottle to tulip glass.

Pours kind of thin looking for a "high gravity" ba stout, black with a cap of sand colored head which quickly recedes to a ring. Good retention and no lacing. Smell is a somewhat one-dimensional creamy vanilla, with some alcohol, oak, and chocolate malt as well. Taste is kind of harsh oak, vanilla, and milk chocolate. Light body and medium-light carbonation. Kind of flabby, and could use some more heft. Overall, this is pretty mediocre. I would pass in the future.

Pours clear, almost black, very dark brown with ruby highlights. Good initial light brown head. Ring of bubbles lingers.

Aroma is wood with a little vanilla and baker's chocolate. Light sweet molasses present. Some alcohol.

Upfront taste is sweet molasses, wood, vanilla, brown sugar. Finish is similar but with more pronounced wood and alcohol--still slightly sweet. Wood comes across as kind of soggy at times though.

Medium body, light creaminess, medium carbonation, syrupy. Sticky lingering finish.

Dragon's Milk from a bottle drinks much better than on cask. Flavors meld better and compliment each other nicely. Barrel aging adds some nice vanilla, but the wood flavor is just alright. Overall a good beer--would have again.

This pours a black-ruby complexion with a thin lacing of foam on top. It has an aroma of toffee and espresso, with a bit of smoke. It’s tasty, with some smoked malt, lots of dark chocolate and dark roast coffee, sweet bourbon notes and a long, smoothly boozy finish.

A: A dark brown color; looks more like a porter than a stout. Very little head off the pour, which then fades to absolutely nothing. No lacing to speak of.

S: Smells just like bourbon. Very little else peeks through the strong whiskey surface. A little of the chocolate malts make an appearance on the backend.

T: Wow, that is bourbon stout right there. Thick bourbon boozy kick, with the oak coming through, milk chocolate and vanilla hints, and some bitter roasted malts to finish. The booze is too upfront here. Tastes like a good stout with a bourbon shot dropped into it.

M: Average. Medium-bodied, no carbonation, with the ABV front and center. Hot!

Side note: After pairing the second half of the bottle with a piece of chocolate cake, this really took on more life. This is a pairing beer if anything.

Poured this from a bomber into a pint glass. It was black with very little head but lots of lacing. It poured fairly thick. You could definitely smell oak and vanilla with roasted malts. It was very thick and surprisingly sweet from what I remember from the last time I had it. The malt taste was also overpowered by vanilla. I have to say it was too much. I've read other reviews saying the alcohol was too much, but I didn't think it was too boozy. I had this out with friends before, but this time I drank it at home. I was less impressed with it this time, so it'll be some time before I have it again.

A: It looked dark. Really dark. Nearly black body with just a thing white head. Left behind thin white lacing as well.

S: Smelled mostly like whiskey. Maybe a faint cocoa powder, but mostly just whiskey

T: It tastes like it smells, whiskey. The alcohol is overpowering. Although the brew is only 10%, it tasted like it could have been 20. I could tell it was a familiar taste, but couldn't put my finger on it. Passed it to my little sister who nailed it right no the head. "Irish Car Bomb". It tastes just like an ICB and if you like those you'll love this. I tried to pick up the vanilla notes which the bottle hinted at, but I caught none of them.

M: Heavy and smooth. Swirl it around in your mouth and it will just feel like alcohol fumes.

O: I'm not a fan. Tastes like whiskey more than anything else, definitely not what I'm looking for in a beer. My older brother loves whiskey, so I got him a bottle. He didn't love it, but drank it. I would not get this again.
