Our exploration into the flavors of mole, the legendary sauce of central Mexico. Malty aroma and rich, cocoa-laden body laced with an invigorating tinge of dries chilies and coffee.

On-tap 1/11/2015 at Doherty’s East Ave Irish Pub, in Pawtucket, RI, served in a tulip glass.
A: The beer is a dark reddish brown color, with a large off-white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.
S: The aroma contains chocolate, some chili pepper, caramelized malts and a very faint touch of hops.
T: The taste starts out with a strong bitter-sweet chocolate flavor. Then some mild flavors of caramel and fruit come in. The chili pepper flavor is faintly in the background. The hops presence is very mild and there isn’t much balance. The after-taste is bitter-sweet.
M: A little crisp and a little smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is very dry and slightly sticky.
O: Not very tasty, goes down ok, not too filling, strong kick, decent representation of style, there are definitely other chili pepper beers out there that are better.
