Smells like the east shore surf of Lake Michigan, windblown seafoam and grassy.

A decent head emerges of a fine, silky off-whiteness. Good continual retention of a thin layer of suds and stickers of lacing.

The copper-brown amber color is crystal clear with very lazy, slow activity of rising bubbles. A few big gulps reveal a smooth, mellow concoction with a brisk start, somewhat malty middle, and a slightly sharp hopiness in the back of the throat at the end. A straight-ahead amber that is refreshing and drinkable.

Poured from a bottle a hazy brown with a very light white head. Aroma is slight caramel and malts. Taste is light on caramel, lightly sweet. Not a whole lot there, but not so little as to make this unenjoyable. Has a medium body feel and is smooth. This is just ok, but I’m beginning to wonder whether the amber ale style just isn’t my thing.

12 ounce bottle poured into a snifter glass

A - This offering pours up about the color of apricots. It is a little cloudy and has an initial one finger head, decent retention and good lacing.

S - Very bready with some understated floral notes. The smell sort of leaps out of the glass at you.

T - There is a distinctive tart character similar to the tartness found in apples. The finish is both dry (but not in a Belgian yeasty way) and bitter.

M - pretty good carbonation with medium thickness.

O - ho hum....another amber ale. Never hate them...never really love them either.
