12 oz. bottle agressively poured into a tulip pint. Dark almost black body with a thick, frothy light brown head. Excellent retention and a ton of thick lacing spread throughout the glass.

Very pleasant aroma. Heavily roasted, almost charcoal tinged malts with chocolate and coffees. Light touch of floral hoppiness, vanilla, and lactose.

Flavor is chocolate dominant, which combines with the oats and lactose to give it almost a chocolate milk like flavor. Discrete hint of nuttiness from the oats. Slight touch of bitter char combined with bitter dark chocolate and a barely detectable hoppy bitterness give it a nice, dry finish.

Medium-full body thanks to the oats. A fairly high carbonation, but it still feels soft, creamy, and velvety.

Overall, this is a wonderful beer. Excellent both stylistically and overall.

12 oz bottle was poured into a pint glass.

Appearance: A nice sized mocha head was formed that reduced to a thin layer. It is a pitch black color with no vision of anything. Spotty lacing down the glass as the beer was drank.

Smell: Bready and sweet oats, roasted coffee, earthy, chocolate, smoke,

Taste: Nice oats up front, ash, roasted coffee, earthy, chocolate, and mild bitterness in the rear.

Mouthfeel: Silky smooth, light bodied, ashy bitterness, a little chewy, and low carbonation.

Overall: It's hot and humid here in Boston, but this was a god choice in my nice air conditioned room.

This is a good, well-made stout that fills your nose with bold, dark coffee and malted barley. The taste comes close to matching the smell, but I almost just want to sit with my glass and savor this beer through my nostrils. Worth trying, and better than many offerings, but not quite inspiring me to verse or rhyme. If it were more concentrated in flavor then allowed to mellow in carbonation, it's be overall much better.

A: pitch black, but with a creamy off-white, half-centimeter head that quickly dissipated. Low lacing. Thin bubbles that sparkle and remind me of champagne. The beer swishes thinly, like coca cola, and ripples with every vibration of the table.

S: this is possibly one of the best smelling beers I've ever had. The front smells like sweet chocolate - Hershey melted into a glass. There is coffee and malted barley in the middle. There is caramel on the finish and mixed throughout.

T: I am let down by the taste here. Dark, roasty, and just a touch bitter. Tastes a bit like thinly brewed coffee, carbonated, and mixed into a brown ale. I like it, but don't love it.

M: too thin - this beer would benefit from some added viscosity and a but less carbonation.

Center poured bottle into Imperial pint glass produces thick tan head that takes several minutes to recede.

Nice aroma. Oatmeal, chocolate, coffee and a little smokiness.

Tastes like it smells.

Nice thickness, feels good.

Overall I really like this beer, Nice that the abv is low enough to have several.
