A - Black with dark amber highlights. Medium head diminished to coat and cling.

S - Off the pour I got some fleeting pine but just as quick it was gone and the chocolate took over, followed by some sweet caramel. Well done.

T- Based on smell, though, the taste was somewhat of a let down. Pretty straight forward malty. Dry from start to finish. Linger is pretty short. I did get some nice roastiness as it warmed.

M- Carb is somewhat lacking. Not watery... just thin for the style.

O- I wasn't expecting over the top but this was lacking boldness. I did let it warm before opening. Perhaps not enough though because it's roastiness didn't come out 'till the very end. As for recommendations. I'm not sure either way. To be fair I really need to try this again, much much warmer though.

Pours black like stouts do, pours with small head. After a few minutes, no head whatsoever and no lacing. Nose is actually quote hoppy! That's almost all I smell. I don't smell any chocolate or coffee like I usually do in an oatmeal stout. Well, yeah, some coffee notes for sure. Taste is also hoppier than I expected. Nice milk chocolate taste and creamy mouthfeel.

Pours black with a slight khaki head. Aroma is roasty, chocolate, toffee, slight coffee tones, and oats. Flavor follow suit with just a touch of char in the finish. Creamy mouthfeel. Overall, a great oatmeal stout. My favorite style of stout and this beer stands up to the my favorites of the style.

Not a lot of head collected after the pour. Looks very dark brown in dim light.

Hearty roasted malts with a dry cocoa powder note and some huskiness from the grain. Some oaty bitterness is noted. Rather smooth.

Cocoa, roast, and earthiness dominates the flavor, up-front. There's a smaller fruit note of black cherry that mellows with the usual stout malt punch. Hops finish with herbal spiciness that plays with a bubbly carbonation towards the end. Oats do wonders for the mouthfeel. Almost creamy. Nice and solid.

Bought a six pack of this this just because it was on sale for not quite the cost of Guinness, didn't expect it could compare with Sam Smith's Oatmeal Stout, but it did ... quite good and will be buying often from now on.

Great appearance, great aroma, great mouthfeel. Awesome surprise.

Lazy saturday afternoon, feels like an oatmeal stout kinda day.

Pours a mocha colored frothy and semi thick almost 1 finger head that fades semi slowly, nice lacing as it does as well, almost black beer with faint brown light sneaking through the thin parts.

Nose brings sweet brown malts, caramel, little syrupy note, little nutty toffee like notes, some creamy like oatmeal, a touch of brown sugar and faint mocha, and very faint coffee.

Taste starts with darker malts this time, a touch of a roasty black malt, mild dark chocolate and cocoa notes, mocha like more than anything, with some of the caramel and brown sugar notes, a little nutty toffee again, and touch of a biscuity note. A nice creamy oatmeal, little oatmeal dark chocolate effect. Hops kick in on the backend, a little earthy almost spicy like hop note with fair bitterness for the style. Finish is drier but creamy and a little sticky, almost dried lactose but more like dried oats, little more semi sweet chocolate and touch of mocha coffee.

Mouth is med to a bit fuller bod, nice creamy oats, decent carb.

Overall not bad, pretty nice oatmeal stout actually, the nose was a little lacking, but the taste brought some nice darker malts, nice oats with a little dark chocolate or semi sweet, nice kick of hops on the back end, decent finish, a touch syrupy and sweet but not bad. Pretty enjoyable even for a warm summer afternoon.
