12 oz. bottle poured into a tulip glass.

Appearance-Deep brownish-black hue with garnet highlights. Appears to be relatively clear. Moderately tall tan-khaki head shows good retention and very nice lacing.

Aroma-Nutty oats, toasty, caramelly, and chocolate malt, and a light milk sugar-like sweetness up front, with background notes of toasted brown bread crusts and lightly roasted malt. Very smooth, and with a low floral hop presence. Pleasant.

Flavor-Chocolate and nutty oats give way to toasted bread crusts and roasted malt. The flavor is simple, yet good, and finishes with moderately low hop bitterness, and a quick flash of espresso malt flavor, but remains in the mid-roasted range through the aftertaste. Quite smooth and easy drinking.

Mouthfeel-Medium full body, with a silky smooth, creamy texture from the addition of oats. Carbonation is moderate and soft of the palate.

A solid, very drinkable oatmeal stout. I'm not wowed by this beer, but I don't necessarily know what else I'd like out of it. It's also worth noting that I could definitely down a few of these, no problem. Good stuff.

A: Pitch black pour with a solid milk chocolate head. Great lacing and retention.

S: Tons of roasted malt with nice creaminess from the oatmeal as well. Little bit of chocolate and coffee.

T: Creamy roasted malt like a proper oatmeal stout. Not much else, just the slightest touch of bitter coffee and dark chocolate perhaps. Hard to tell, it's hiding behind the nice roast.

M: A touch watery (it is only 5.2%) but otherwise smooth and creamy.

O: Very nice oatmeal stout. Maybe just a step behind Mayflower, Ipswich or Samuel Smith but not far. Simple and smooth.

Obtained locally. No freshness date. Poured from 12 oz bottle into a snifter.

A - Pours a dark brown to black with reddish highlights. Minimal head and lacing retention.

S - Roasted malts and a chocolate aroma. Perhaps some oakiness.

T - Same as the aroma with a hint of vanilla. Not overly complex, but a nice flavor.

M - Smooth with a light carbonation.

A nice stout. Not too complex but very enjoyable.
