12oz bottle into a tulip.

Pours a slightly hazy medium gold with a very fluffy two finger white head but unfortunately it is very quick to fade away leaving just a small ring of lacing around the sides of the glass.

Aroma is spicy as a Saison should be with peach and orange peel along with a bit of pepper. It is a little limp, though, and one dimensional.

The flavor carries the peach notes over from the aroma along with the Belgian spiciness. A little more in the way of citrus juiciness and less spice along with light bread. The mouthfeel is where this beer tends to be lackluster. It is not real crisp and dry like a good Saison should be. A bit too oily and sticky on the finish.

Overall, while this beer can't stand up to some of the better Belgian examples of the style, it is decent and priced nicely. I am a huge fan of the style and this makes for an affordable go-to beer.

Appearance: Pours with a golden orange color. Half a finger of head on the pour which settled in to a thin ring on the edges of the glass. Good amount of active carbonation but probably a touch slow for the style.

Smell: Interesting front of banana, white grapes, apricot, and prairie grass. Bright light fruits continue to build on the body. Buttery, creamy yeast rounds it out. Not overly complex but an interesting tilt on the style.

Taste: Bright front of banana, cloves, prunes, apricots, and straw. Oak, white pepper, lemon and some mossy hops show up on the body. Yeast has a rustic earthy flavor which masks the palate pretty well. Continuing bright fruits and some dry tobacco round this one out.

Mouthfeel: Lower carbonation makes for a very easy drinking saison. Bright fruits throughout are a unique twist.

Overall: An interesting saison to say the least. Really interesting hop/fruit flavors and aroma throughout set this one apart. Solid offering from New Holland.

On-tap 6/29/2014 at Doherty’s East Ave Irish Pub in Pawtucket, RI served in a US tumbler pint glass.

A: The beer is a bright yellow color, with a short white head that fades slowly and leaves a thick lace on the glass.

S: The aroma contains wild Belgian yeast, bananas, citrus, light caramelized malts and a touch of hops.

T: The taste starts out bready with flavors of wild Belgian yeast and a hearty but not too heavy malt character followed by some sweet flavors of banana and citrus. There is a very mild tartness in the background. The hops presence is also mild but brings a good balance. The after-taste is slightly bready and slightly sweet.

M: Crisp and smooth, medium body, medium carbonation, finish is slightly sticky.

O: Tasty, goes down very easily, not too filling, decent kick, good representation of style, it’s a solid beer but there are better choices within the style.

Appearance: 1 inch head, medium-high carbonation, light yellow in color, clear

Smell: flower, wheat, and banana

Taste: flower, wheat, and banana

Mouthfeel: sweet, light bodied and medium carbonation

Overall: More floral than a lot of the saisons I have had lately. Banana also sines through. I enjoyed this one and could see myself having a few on a hot day.
