bottle into tulip

appearance: slightly murky dark copper/amber with 1 finger white head, minor lacing

smell: earthy hops, sticky dank hops, some subtle citrus and floral notes, lemon zest, caramel

taste: Dry herbal earthiness followed by a slightly citric, piney, floral hoppiness that doesn't really linger that much. The flavor is very crisp and short lasting, getting some biscuity, bready notes as well. Very good overall but could use a little more citrus/grapefruit

mouthfeel: slightly high carbonation, thin bodied

overall: A great IPA, could use a little more flavor in the taste but overall this really satisfied. I'm glad they used only homegrown ingredients, it's almost like a lager meets an IPA for me, very subtle fruity "IPA" flavors but with some lager-esque bready notes as well.

Auburn orange with a lot of unnecessary haze. Not a lot of good lasting head.

Tangy cardboard, perfumey hops, oxidized malts... doesn't smell too good.

Floral hops, some cardboard, wafery thin malts, caramel overtones, and minerality. Yikes.

Feels good. Nice weight in the mouth. Carbonation provides some good airiness.

Yeah... about no bottle dating...

A: Pours a hazy orange-tinged amber with a creamy, thin white mousse.

S: Aromas of caramel, cream, toffee, biscuit, herbs, pine, lemon, lime, and mandarin orange come through on the nose.

T: Flavors of caramel, cream, toffee, biscuit, crackers, lemon, lime, mandarin orange, kumquat, grapefruit, grass, herbs, and pine wash across the palate. The finish is earthy, herbal, and zesty with pronounced flavors of caramel, biscuit, herbs, grass, lemon, and pine.

M: Medium bodied, smooth, and creamy in the mouth with prickly, yet somewhat restrained carbonation. Very easy to drink.

O: I'm not really sure that I can accept this beer as an IPA, but I really like the Cascade aromas and flavors the brewers showcase in this ale. If and when you try this ale, keep an open mind and do not think of this as a typical American IPA because, in truth, it is really more of an American pale ale billed as an IPA. Still, the aromas and flavors here are great. Highly recommended for fans of balanced and/or hop-forward ales.

A - Pours a hazy copper with a two-finger foamy white head. Heavy lacing.

S - Fair amount of pine and citrus from the hops. Some light caramel sweetness is also present.

T - Lots of caramel malts. Hop are fairly weak producing a light bitterness with some light citrus notes also come through in the finish.

M - Light body with medium carbonation. Mouthfeel is watery with a dry finish.

O - Decent. I wish the hops would have came through more. Very light easy drinking IPA.

Pours a clear dark copper/golden orange color with tangerine edges and a half finger off-white head that immediately fades into a thin ring.  Minimal spotty lacing left behind.

Floral, earthy hop aroma with a nice balance of resinous, earthy notes and sweet citrus/tropical fruit charater.  There's a stronger malt presnce than expected with hints of caramel, graham cracker, toffee and biscuit.  Soily with pine needle and spruce tip countered by grapefruit sweetness and zesty orange peel.

Lighter bodied than expected with a earthy hop bitterness that lingers over the sweeter malt notes into a dry finish.  Not overly bitter or resinous but it's pretty dry with lots of spicy grass, soil and pine needle flavor.  Citrus/tropical notes are subtle with some pineapple and orange zest providing a touch of sweetness.  More malt character than expected with caramel sweetness, toffee, bread and biscuit.  Decently balanced and light enough to drink easily but the hop flavor isn't very intersting which is odd considering the use of cascade.
