New Holland actually surprised me, I generally go to local breweries expecting a tap room with a touch of food on the side at best, but New Holland is clearly more of a brew pub. The main building has a few huge rooms, one with the bar, with glassware on display. That room also has quite a lot of seating. A smaller side room is next to that, with a couple of couches and a table or two for large parties. Then there is a game room with bar classics available.
Service was quite good though, it was what I would consider standard solid restaurant service, food was brought quickly, beers were rapidly refilled, and our server was friendly. I had no complaints.
The selection was very nice, and easily one of the most diverse in the area in terms of number of taps. Almost all of their regular brews were available, as well as all of the high gravity beers, and a few other special offerings. They had beer menus all set up which explained each beer as well, I really have a hard time knocking them there. FWIW, the food selection was also pretty good.
Price, well, the only real knock on the place. I would say the beer was priced high but fair for micro beers. I think I am a bit put off by the price mainly because I don't think their beers stack up well to the best in West Michigan (i.e.: Founders, Bells) but their prices are in that range. Food is quite pricy, but I imagine the location (downtown Holland, business central) has a lot to do with that.
The bottom line: not a bad place to go. I prefer a bit more of a tap room style atmosphere, but I can't knock the staff, or the selection.
