First review. Had this beer on tap many times before. Poured out of a 16 oz can, bottled yesterday, into a Tripel Karmeliet snifter.

A: Hazy orange. Lighter orange and straw come in when held to the light. Decent head. Fades to a very miniscule lacing. Looks unfiltered.

S: Bright tropical hops. Mango, grapefruit and citrus. Wonderful.

T: The taste follows the aroma. Tons of mango and grapefruit on the forefront, followed by a subtle ctirus (orange, tangerine) flavor. Some papaya mixed in. Enough malt and booziness to counteract the bitterness of this hop bomb.

F: Medium bodied, good carbonation. Bitterness and stickiness coats the tongue.

O: Very good DIPA done by a brewery that knows its hops. Glad it is being canned, and this won't be a one time (limited) thing from what I hear. Anyone else who tells you is limited is just trying to up the trade value. Despite that, this is a wonderful beer that hits on all cylinders and I highly recommend it!

Can courtesy of magic mike! Enjoyed from a tørst glass (you guessed it, the one with the green diamonds...so cliche).

a - classic IPA look golden orange frothy head lace was a bit more slippery than typical but the head hung out and was easily rebuilt with a swirl.

s - nose is spot on IPA happiness...big dank resinous hop of the fresh ripe fruit style. Dense. Lush. Really inviting...wonderful hop. The galaxy really shines.

t/m/o - in a word...wow. The best of any class of IPA I have seen locally by a mile and a half...this baby sings and can hang with the big boys, finally an IPA offering that NY can be proud of. Really fantastic. Taste matches that magical nose and the body is big and full but great balance in bitterness and flavor. A masterpiece.

Other Half Brewing "Green Diamonds Imperial IPA"
On-tap at the tasting room, 23 August 2014

This is an interesting beer for me in that I didn't really find it "Imperial", it just came across as a hopped-up kind of west coast IPA. I was looking for more malt, I was looking for more strength, I expected more body... I didn't find it. In fact, I didn't even find the nose to be really bright. It was good overall, and I appreciated the pungent and citrusy hops, but it didn't slap me in the face. So is that good, or is that bad? I don't know. I think the "Imperial" designation kind of skews things. What I found was a very well-rounded, and well-balanced, lightly super-charged IPA. I'm sure it's strong, there's no doubt about that, but it didn't come off like that - this could be one dangerous beer!!! So beyond the hidden strength, what I can say is that I liked the different layers of flavor that I found. It was resinous at one point, and then citrusy at the next, and then more common fruitiness followed. The malt would come in, and then go out like the tide. And it was bitter, but it wasn't overly bitter. It didn't build at the back of my throat as some do. There was a touch of underlying (maybe outlying is a better word) fermentation character but it never really stepped in.

Ahhh, I think I just got the name... this is made with Galaxy hops which are hard to come by so maybe those are the "green diamonds".

Poured from a 16 oz can dated 3/11 into a Tired Hands Teku

A- One of the prettiest looking Ipa's ive seen. A very Golden/Burnt orange Hue to it with a frothy inch of head that seems to stick around the entire time.

S- Sweet Maltiness, Big Resinous hop aroma followed by tropical fruits, peach and pine.

T- Resiny pine up front, citrus/grapefruit,Passionfruit/tropical flavors, all wrapped up with a sweet malt backbone that takes those flavors and holds them back. Very balanced and more on the malty side than hoppy. ends with a herbal bitterness.

M- Medium Bodied and walks the line between dry and juicy. A little more alcohol heat than I would like. Honestly one of the boozier 9% beers I've had. The alcohol comes out even more as it warms and forms a distracting astringency.

O- This beer is not your new wave east coast Hill Farm/Tired Hands/ Treehouse lightly bitter with huge delacate hops driving the vehicle. The malt is holding you at gun point here while the hops reach for your wallet. The malt is the fresh prince, the hops are just Dj jazzy Jeff. This is a nice change of pace. What holds this beer back is the alcohol is way too prevelent, maybe this was on purpose but it comes off solventy and distracting. The cans are the most beatifully designed cans/beer labels out there, if you have a chance to try this beer do it.

Poured from 16 oz can dated 8/28/2015 into OH Hop Showers glass.

A: Pours a slightly hazy golden orange with 2-3 finger white head. Nice retention and lacing.

S: Huge tropical fruits and floral hops. Passion fruit, mango, pineapple, and grapefruit.

T: Extremely juicy tropical IPA. Pineapple, mango, and passion fruit.

M: Medium body and average carbonation. Finish is slightly dry but refreshing.

O: Other half is making some of the best IPAs in the business and this is no exception

Poured from a 16oz can into a Speiglau IPA glass.

Rich golden amber color with a thick full head with big bubbles. Lots of visible carbonation.

The aroma is rich dank resin and citrus like rich sticky orange.

Taste is bright and tropical. Maintains that hop stickiness from the aroma.

Excellent beer. So deceptive at 9.1% ABV.

Enjoyed on tap at the brewery. Nice 10oz pour in a snifter. Big citrus on the nose- grapefruit, lemon, pine, papaya. Taste follows- wonderful citrus flavors with a beautiful malt backbone and nice booze hit. The 9% isn't apparent, but you know it's there. One of the best DIPAs out there. Other Half continues to make a room for themselves with some of the best IPAs south of New England.

Nice tropical fruits on the nose and a very balanced and drinkable dipa. The galaxy is very strong here, almost catty, which is a good thing for me. Cheers to OH!!!

The beer comes in a rich hazy medium amber orange.

The aroma is a bit lacking, though pungent, a bit of plastic, dank qualities, citrus peel.

As I drank this beer more, I got more Heady Topper qualities. A punch of bitterness in the front onto a sweetness of peaches and mango and passionfruit. Then onto this iconic "dank" and "yeast" flavor that I associate strongly with Heady Topper. I would compare it to that beer with a larger malt bill and more sweetness. On the back is a bit of astringency, but onto lots of grapefruit peel.

This is all surrounded by a clean, but with a medium to medium plus and almost chewy, smooth mouthfeel. The beer drinks towards a beer with 1% ABV lower than this.

Compared to All Green (Other Half's larger DIPA with different hops), this wins out as Other Half's best beer.

Early sips revealed a lack of finish to this one; subsequent sips replaced the absent finish with a lingering bitterness that I didn't find pleasing.

Growler fill from DeCiccos,

A: Strong copper burnish. Mushrooming white head with good ahesion. Lasys for 5 minutes until setting into 3 distinct, session-lasting distinct dollops. I was left with a frosted glass.

S: Warm malt creaminess. Orange, vegetal celery bark. Foundational and subtle cinnamon earthiness, but with peppery spice character of mace.

M: Grainy, sharp, semi-firm, well-attenuated. Slightly starchy.

T/O: Springing tartness and cooling evergreen. Sharp-cutting citrus, grapefruit, lime peel. Alcoholic mid: pleasant green plantain and playful garlic scape, and then early-season peach to finish with a gentle kiwi fruit aftertaste. Overall, flavor profile is much better developed, full spectrum. It compares more favorably in this aspect to the next best Galaxy, single-hopped beer I've had, benefiting from its higher ABV. The greenness can tend toward overaggressive and overmask some of the other flavors.

Date: 02/21/2015
Canned : 02/19/2015 - Super Fresh!
Type: 16oz. Can
Glass: Other Half Green Diamonds Tulip

Pours a hazy golden in color w/ a 1/2 finger white head that quickly dissipates to an outer ring of foam and leaves good lacing on the glass. Aromas of mango, peach, white wine, and subtle pine and cat piss. The taste opened with a huge blast of pine and citrus, transitioning to a peach/ mango sweetness, and closed the show with mostly herbal bitterness. Medium bodied and lush. This brew is somewhere in the middle between juicy and dry, but remains dry enough to keep you coming back for another sip. Dangerously drinkable at 9.1% ABV as the booze is well hidden which is a monumental accomplishment by the brewers. Usually once a brewer steps outside that 8 - 8.9% DIPA sweet spot the beer falls on it's face a bit as the booze is too prevalent to keep crushing it. However, this beer pushes the ABV envelope slightly and still remains pretty crushable.

Overall, this is hands down the best DIPA coming out of NYC right now! This is the type of beer that not only puts Other Half on the map, but literally staples them to it. Honestly, I have had all the big hitters from Vermont and while this is unique it is in the same vein. I am so glad this new brewery is right by where I work and easily accessible as it feels like Vermont came to Brooklyn. Plus, my 3 year old son's favorite color is green so he was all over this one! I had to give him a can to play around with and he cleaned the can extra good and wrapped it up with paper towels and rubber bands to protect it. Funny stuff! I had to literally put it in the refrigerator with the paper towels and rubber bands encasing it.

Served on-tap in a small tulip at The Jeffrey (New York, NY).

A: Orangey-amber with stiff 1/2 finger ivory head with good retention and a few streamers of lacing.

S: Big tropical fruit hop nose sprinkled with bits of pine resin and grapefruit citrus layered on a fairly benign, nondescript light malt backing

T: Excellent flavor profile following nicely from the nose with light caramel maltiness supporting a whopper tropical and grapefruit citrus fruity hoppiness dashed with pine resin. No yeast and only light alcohol taste. Moderately bitter.

M: A little thick and not as light as it could be. Light carbonation and medium-full body hurt drinkability somewhat.

O: I enjoyed Green Diamonds -- a little more readily drinkable with a bit lighter, drier feel and this would really be an eye-opener. Still a very nice beer.

I tried this beer on tap at the Blind Tiger Ale house. It went very well with a tangy vinigarette salad. I've never had "Australian galaxy hops", don't let the light color fool you, it's hoppy, like Cascade to the 3rd power, unique and worth trying. Stunning at first, but it sits well and does your palate justice in the end.

Are you serious? The hop explode out of the can. I am so glad I was able to pick this up in a trade. The mouth feel is sick. A lot of substance behind it. The aroma could not get any better.

Bright orange with a nice white head and great lacing. Citrus all the way through. Orange, tangerine, grapefruit, touch of stone fruit, touch tropical, pith and rinds. Lighter body than expected, nice slick feel with a medium body and dry finish. Very drinkable. This was a fantastic DIPA.

Really nice nose of tropical fruits. It just smells juicy. Reminds me of a slightly toned down Trillium DIPA like Artaic. Has more of a malt finish than I though as well as a lingering bitterness but I found this very good.
