Pours a deep golden orange. Subtle earthy citrus nose. Fresh plucked grapefruit and green grass. Crisp, clean, and so drinkable. Another great beer by Other Half! (162 characters)

Poured from one of their awesome tall boy cans into a tulip glass. Bright orange filtered body, thin white head. Tropical hops give me pineapple, orange, some pine. Taste matches the aroma, very well balanced. Great carbonation. (228 characters)

Like everything these guys do, Hop Showers is, quite simply, a hop-forward masterpiece and should be any hophead's desert-island beer. The single-hop series gets tons of love, and rightly so, but there's something about the hop blend in this beer that makes it pop similarly to some of my other favorite IPAs, including Julius and Sip of Sunshine. (347 characters)

Tasting glass at the Other Half taproom.

A= Orange/amber, thick frothy head, hazy.

S= A ton of citrus, lemon, grapefruit, juice and rind.

T= Resinous, dank, tons of citrus hop flavor but still easy to drink, not a bitter bomb.

M=Medium body with moderate level of carbonation.

O= Great resinous IPA, balanced and clean flavors, in the dank category flavor wise, lots of citrus aroma. (390 characters)

This beer has a deep dark orange body that is not see through. When first poured, the head appears white, fine, and creamy, but breaks down into a foamy, disarray or multi-sized bubbles. The body on this one looks bold. The smell on the other hand is similar to their Galaxy IPA, Green Diamonds, and Nelson. They all somewhat overlap one another. I would like for the aroma to be unique and distinct from other beers in the line up. Citrus and pine obviously stand out in the smell. A combination of citrus, pine, bitterness, and tang make up the taste. Everything meshes together well with the hops at center stage. A pretty good taste. The feel is substantial and the beer feels good in the box. Lower than medium carbonation, definitely not over carbonated. The right amount for me.

Overal - Over the past few days, I have had Galaxy IPA, Nelson, and Green Diamonds from Other Half. From Other Half, Hop Showers would be my go to beer. With Hop Showers, drink-ability and taste are a fit for me. All Green Everything is in the batters box.

A go to IPA. (1,081 characters)

On tap at the ginger man---light pale gold murky color... Creamy white foam....mutated nose, some light citrus.... Taste is also subdued but has a nice hoppy profile with a little citrus and slight metallic taste.... Mildly bitter finish, malt in the background--- overall very refreshing and one of New York's finest!! (319 characters)

On tap at Other Half Brewing Company in Brooklyn, NY.

This one pours slightly hazy and cloudy, colored a pale orange, with a half inch head, and a good amount of lacing.

Smells awesome, huge grapefruit citrus and orange character, with some slight pine. It just jumps out of the glass.

This tastes similarly awesome. It's tastes a bit more resinous than it smells, but in a fairly balanced way. Awesome combination of deep citrus and bitter, dank pine. It's hard to take too many notes on this one because it just went down incredibly easily. It just feels so well-crafted and awesome.

For me, the ABV range of 7-8% for IPAs is the absolute sweet spot. No sense of the alcohol here, very crushable- but it'll get you there and make you feel real nice if you have a few. It has a very juicy mouthfeel, and a moderate level of carboantion.

This is an awesome IPA, one of the best that I've ever had. (902 characters)

Excellent beer, had on tap at the tasting room. Cloudy appearance, big citrus on the nose. Taste is citrus with just the right amount of bitter. I will be heading to the brewery for their next can release of this one, outstanding all the way. (246 characters)

Orange body with a mild haze and a quarter inch of white head. Citrus, floral, pine aromas. Biscuit malt, pine, grapefruit rind. Medium high bitterness in the finish with a hint of warming alcohol. Pretty tasty. (251 characters)

16 oz. can poured into a snifter. Hazy orange body. Medium white head and collar. Smells a little dank and tropical. I taste pale malts first. A little bit of sweetness. Melon hop flavor. Pushes more herbal in the back. Medium carbonation and low bitterness. Unique combination of hop flavors, but pretty good. (310 characters)

A nice beer that borders on being something stellar. Hazy burnt orange color and a mousse like off white head engages the eyes. Notes of mango, pine, breadfruit, slight caramel malts, musky citrus. Soft and slightly dry around edges. Overall smooth and relatively easy drinking. Low carb. Not a thirst quencher per se. Initial soapy, herbal, medicinal in taste. Warms bc and the biting peel is removed to reveal a fleshy, sweet beer. Lots of ttopical notes; mango, passionfruit, orange. Moderate grapefruit zest on finish. A pretty simple ipa. Not a hop bomb, but you get its showering fallout. (601 characters)

Pours a thin orange color with a nice head. Smells like grapefruit and hop goodness. BUT the taste does not match with the smell. I got a really bitter unbalanced beer that had little tropical fruit. IPA s are my favorite style but this just missed the mark for me. (265 characters)

32oz growler from Whole Foods in Manhattan. Pours a hazy coppery orange color with a 1/2 inch of head. Minimal lacing. The aroma is light tropical fruits with hints of citrus and piney hops. Grapefruit and mango most notably. The taste is piney and herbal up front followed by the citrus notes. Mango and herbal hops towards the end. Juicy but dry. A bit month as it warms. Lightly carbonated. Almost seems like an Imperial IPA. Overall, very good IPA I hope to have again. (473 characters)

16 ounce tallboy poured into an oversized Belgian tulip.

This beer looks pretty identical to AGE, but maybe, maybe a tad less coppery. Frothy pale white head is big and leads lots of lace in its tracks. Cloudy body looks like a mimosa or something: orange and glowing and full-bodied. 4.5

Quite piney for an East Coast product. Lighter tropical fruit flavor and orange. Creamy sweet malt notes. Spicy and resinous as well. 4.25

Man, that first sip was refreshing. Very juicy feel here. Surprisingly though, a second sip comes back less fruity and more piney and dank and weed-like. Mid-palate a bit of mango and pineapple and passionfruit emerge, adding another dimension to the flavor here. It's awesome. Adding to this is that this beer still has a medium to full body. I love the refreshing, light quality it achieves without feeling a tad watery.

Also as far as feel, there's a bitterness that lingers throughout and it's potent, but trying to take in all the flavors, you may miss it for a while. This thing just drinks nicely and tastes wonderful. T- 4.5 M- 4.5

I'm on board with this one! (1,101 characters)

pint can, 12 oz. OH snifter.

Look - hazy but not turbid bright amber, one finger of purely white head that lasts forever and leaves long strips of lacing.

Smell - Herbal, grassy, resinous up front, with a bit of tropical fruit in the back.

Taste - Not as sweet as expected. A bit musty and vegetal with a pronounced bitter bite at the start, but the bitterness doesn't linger, and gives way to the herbal, slightly tropical notes. Gets sweeter and opens up a bit more on the tropical side as it warms.

Feel - Nice prickly carbonation and a little bit of weight on the tongue. Just right for the style.

Overall - A pretty darn good one, but not mind-blowing. Make sure you let it warm up a hair before you drink it. (719 characters)

16oz. can (bottled 5/19/15) into a Heady Topper stemless snifter.

Pours a 1.5 finger foamy white head with moderate retention. Beer is a clear bright orange. Lacing is stringy and spotty with decent stick. Solid.

Beer smells of cane sugar, citrus, and grapefruit. Aromatic, fruity and sweet. Appetizing!

Opens mellow citrus fruit. Notes of clementine, tangerine and a bit of grapefruit bitterness. Middle balances the hop profile out with a pulpy, juicy fruit presence. Ends with a nice floral and fruity hop bite, leaving a slightly filmy hop aftertaste. Really good.

Light bodied with moderate to ample carbonation. Smooth with some bubbles in the mouth and goes down quenching and soft. Finishes messy and accented with a lingering, lively finish. Really drinkable.

This beer epitomizes why 16oz. cans are better than 12oz. ones. I just can't get enough. Nicely complex and super drinkable! What Other Half is all about! (931 characters)

The beer comes in a hazy dark reddish orange.

The aroma hits of fresh orange, sweet peaches, dripping mango, some floral, a dank resinous note in the back.

The flavor follows with yellow grapefruit and juicy orange up front, onto a creamy mouthfeel and light bready backbone. The beer finishes bitter as it lingers of floral, dank, herbaceous, and resinous qualities. (370 characters)

Kind of a grassy and spicy hoppy thing going on. Earthy and hay like, I think? Kind of has a rustic bite to it. I can dig it. But having AGE before this probably wasn't good strategy. Lol (187 characters)

swung by the tasting room this morning to grab the citra and nelson cans and grabbed a small pour of this. thanks for the pour anthony...enjoyed from a OH taster onsite.

a - brew pours a hazy cloudy yellow orange with a frothy ipa head. head was frothy and had an unfiltered look to it...puffy head, lots of lace.

s - fairly resinous hop. rich and thick. some grapefruit notes, but really on the rich side of the spectrum.

t/m/o - as advertised by the nose, fairly rich resinous hop. solid ipa that tastes and feels like a double. yet another in a great lineup of IPAs to shout about from the rooftops from other half. really looking forward to more growth from these guys and after today, i will certainly be going out of my way to support them. really great operation making great beer! (798 characters)

From 09/18/14 notes. Had on tap at Pony Bar HK in NYC, 14 oz pour in a pint glass.

a - Pours a very murky, dull brownish-yellow color with one inch of off white head and moderate carbonation evident. Looks kind of gross to be honest.

s - Smells of citrus hops, oranges, lemon zest, floral hops, earthy notes, grapefruit, and light fruity malts. Nice nose, lots of citrus up front.

t - Tastes of citrus hops, lemon, grapefruit, dank pine hops, very bitter hops, resin, light floral hops, and light fruity malts. Taste is very bitter; if you like that in a DIPA the you won't mind it, tiny bit too much for me. Very dank.

m - Medium body and moderate carbonation with a bitter bite.

o - Overall I thought this was good but VERY bitter, and I was left a little disappointed after hearing rave reviews of this, much like I was with All Green Everything. I much prefer their Citra IPA's drinkability and nose/taste to either of those beers, and think that is their best and most drinkable beer I've had so far. Still a good beer and I'm looking forward to trying more of their stuff, but I don't see this on the level some people do (with stuff like HF, Lawsons, Heady). (1,170 characters)

On tap at Pony Bar Hell's Kitchen. Brewed with Amarillo, Citra, and Ahtanium hops.

Appearance: Hazy orange yellow. Bartender leaves a half inch head with good retention and lacing.

Smell: Dank weed and citrus. Sort of flower-tinged lime aromas. Pungent and good.

Taste: Lots of tropical fruit and melon, lime-like citrus; all the virtues of these hops preening in their full glory. It's a little earthy, but more bright.

From my limited experience (3 other beers) with Other Half, I expect 1) Emphasis on the bright, floral/fruity hop flavors as opposed to dank weed flavors, 2) lots of crystal malt, 3) well defined, sweet malt backbone. This beer definitely has (1) (with just a liiitle dank), but (2) and (3) are completely wrong here; do not apply at all. This is solid West Coast and Vermont style "hop assault plus beautiful cereal grain malt backbone."

The aforementioned cereal malt backbone is never at the forefront; it's always the bedrock on which the bright hop flavors build and shine (mixed metaphor). I love pretty much every element of the flavor of this beer.

Mouthfeel: Medium bodied, high side of moderate carbonation, dry finish. Very good.

Overall: Well, Other Half is back on my radar. This is fresh NEBCO Gandhi Bot, Trillium, Hill Farmstead caliber hoppy beer, giving Peekskill a run for their money re: best hoppy beer in NY. It's better than Kelso's Industrial IPA, a beer that I'm pretty much in love with.

If this beer consistently tastes like this, hands down I'll order it every time I see it on tap. Really, as I said above, just excellent stuff. Expect big things if this is what this brewery is about. (1,644 characters)
