Light for a porter. More like a black IPA. Amarillo hops shine, very aromatic almost perfume bouquet. Great lacing and foam retention. The finish is smooth with a sour grapefruit liqueur type of flavor. Very unique beer!

5 oz. at the brewery in proprietary glassware.
Appearance: Dark mahogany with a big cream head.
Aroma: Maple, chocolate, dark malts, coffee.
Taste: Big maple note upfront. Bitter, black coffee balances that out. Some lactose-type sweetness. Good stuff. Chocolate note, too.
Mouthfeel: Very drinkable. Not cloying or overpowering.
Overall: Really good sweet porter. I don't know why this is rated so poorly. People are incorrect.

Thanks to threelions for sharing.
Smaller fizzy dark head fades quickly, dark molasses brown almost no light getting through.
Nose sweet lactose milk chocolate, little roasted, mild caramel, little biscuit with fudge cocoa, little maple, burnt caramel.
Taste more lactose, dried lactose, creamy milk chocolate, little cocoa biscuit fudge, some roast, little sweet milk too, light maple syrup, light bitterness, touch acrid but also burnt coffee, powered cocoa lingering, dry creamy lactose finish, touch bitterness.
Mouth is med bod, creamy lactose, nice carb, pretty much no booze.

On tap at family dog, poured into a bissel brothers pint glass. Pours a dark black nearly opaque color with some burnt Carmel lacing on the sides of the glass and hardly any head. Smells of Burnt coffee, charcoal, and hints of dark chocolate. Taste is mostly of the burnt coffee, that is a highly bitter flavor that doesn't ever resolve or get cut by a malt sweetness. Very very bitter beer. Mouthfeel is more carbonated than most porters I've had. Overall doesn't stack up to the other outstanding offerings from bissel brothers. Taste more like a black IPA.
