Poured on tap into a stemmed wine glass. An aboriginal farmhouse ale.

Deep lemon and unfiltered looking appearance, bright yellow, and even slightly green a little bit along the edges. Minimal carbonation if any at all, and presented with a nice creamy bone white head about a finger tall. Good solid looking saison.

Bursting nose and aroma. Tropical juiced fruit and zesty orange and lime like citrus. Mild hinting funk but a bit buried by the hop presence that is dominant. Stays to saison roots with some hints of grass and mild herbality too. Very very nice smelling brew.

Palate gets surprisingly subdued compared to what the nose hints at. Slightly chewy body but an almost mix of pilsner crisp body and slightly lifeless feeling. Hinted aromas on nose don't come though on the palate leaving the mid palate tropics behind. Aftertaste brings much of the aroma and flavor, with a very nice balance between mild brett and the zesty oily hop.

Still it's a solid saison and has a great balance, it just hints at greatness at first and slightly disappoints on first try though.

On-tap at Right Proper Brewing Company, Washington, DC

A: The beer is clear yellow in color and has a very slight amount of visible carbonation. It poured with a half finger high bright white head that died down and left a large patch of bubbles on the surface, a collar around the edge, and some lacing down the sides of the glass.
S: Light- to moderate aromas of citrusy and tropical fruit hops are present in the nose. The smell of hops becomes stronger as the beer warms up.
T: The taste starts out with a little sourness from the brett yeast and has some notes of citrus and tropical fruit flavors.
M: It feels light- to medium-bodied on the palate and has a moderate amount of carbonation.
O: I liked this beer because it still tasted like a wild ale and was complimented (and not overpowered) by notes of citrus and tropical fruits, which lent complexity.

Appearance: Pours a hazy light orange/yellow color with a huge fluffy white head. Excellent retention and tons of lacing.

Aroma: Outstanding aroma. Great mix of light brett funk, saison yeast fruitiness and big tropical/citrus hop aromas.

Taste: Opens a big grainy and transitions into slightly brett funk and oily hop flavor leaning toward citrus zest. Finish is dry, slightly bitter, a bit funky and fruity.

Mouthfeel: The mouthfeel on my growler has faded slightly. That said, at the brewery I remember a spritzy carbonation on a beer that was surprisingly medium bodied for being 4.6%.

Overall: This has all the elements of greatness even if the sum of the parts doesn't quite reach it. Still a very, very good take on a light, bretted saison.
