The combination of Belgian tripel, lacto, brett, and apple brandy barrel (not to mention a 10% abv!) might sound like a bit much but this beer brought all the flavors together in a delicious way. I'd have this one again.

On draft at the brewery.

L: Deep gold, slightly hazy, with a persistent white head.

S: Apples, cardamom, nutmeg, and hints of clove.

T: Just like warm apple pie. Everything from the fruits and spices to a hint of brown sugar (caramel malts?). Not much brett funk and minimal sourness, but a well-rounded and complex flavor nonetheless. A little vanilla/coconut on the finish.

F: Medium bodied, with a dry finish. Spot on.

O: It's delicious now, but I'd love to see how this would age for another year. If the brett activity starts to pick up, it could go from "merely" excellent to world-class. Wait and see...

On tap at brewery:
(Aged in apple brandy barrels)
The pour seems a little murky, a pale, cloudy amber. Given the description, I think I'm led directly to comparing it to an apple cider in look. The head is quite long-lasting, small bubbles that seem to keep their structure, and don't leave.

The smell on this is awesome, if a little strange for the pure style - but this is barrel-aged. Candy sugar, sweet wine, wood, fruits. I kind of get apple, but that could be suggestion; others are unripe pear, fig, maybe some date.

The taste opens with the promise the nose gave, but barely fulfills it. The more prominent notes I mentioned first in the nose come through. The sweetness is shorter-lived than expected, though. Perhaps the funk/sour agents listed I the description take over, but a funk counters the sweetness in a way that doesn't work for me. The beer turns ginger-beerish at this point, without the crisp ginger bite. I think a hint of sour tries to work its way in late, like an unwanted house guest.

There was much potential in the beer given the nose, but I think this may be a case of tying to do too much. Tripel; lacto and brett; barrel-aged; fruit wine. The various components are somewhat detectable, but detecting is a fun game, but a different one than enjoying a beer.

So-this isn't a complete train wreck, but it also isn't a well constructed beer, in my opinion. I drank it with no thoughts of not finishing it, but for me it's too ambitious in thought versus execution.
