Had on tap at the brewery.

On arrival 1 finger of head quickly recedes, On top of a deep brown body.

Aroma is nutty and sweet, but overall quite light. There are some slight dark fruity aromas.

Taste is crushable and quite nice, but again a bit light. The sweet nuttiness comes through nicely. There is a light bitterness from some traditional American hops, but no flavor or aroma. The fruity English yeast is present in the finish.

Feel is dry and crushable, but medium to full bodied like the style should be. The dry finish is quite long. Full and malty, but not overwhelming.

Overall this is a decent almost English style beer. The sweet nutty malts and easy drinking add to that.

a grossly underrated beer here, brewed with wild local hops which is rad, and a really solid mild or pub ale type, as unsexy is these are in todays craft beer climate, its always a treat to come by a good one. i have been wanting to check this place out for awhile now, and this is the first of their beers i have ever had, a fantastic first impression. its clear and fairly light in color and shade for the style, bubbly and heady, classic looking in the shaker pint at their downstairs bar up in central city. its got wonderful balance in nose and taste, a ton of character, but equal mix of hops and grain. the malts are classically english but both fresher and lighter than i am used to with these flavors, notes of honey and porridge and light caramel. the hops contribute a cool spiciness, dried apricots, and gentle pine, smooth and only minimally bitter even though its a little oily and slick. medium body, a baked sort of warmth and not dry, but the lingering sugar from the grain is awesome. this is a total crusher for me too, full flavored but really poundable, interesting enough to want more and more, so fresh too, these hops make it unique, and there is just a bit of yeast character in the finish too, impressive complexity for a beer in this style, i am surprised folks havent appreciated it more. well ahead of my modest expectations for a casino brewery, seriously good beer here despite the current ratings! dont be fooled.

I pulled up to the bar and got the Jacob I was told it was an English beer, but American. Ok..

Pours a very light amber. Average white head and pretty good lacing. Just a bit different look than the red.

Some earthy hops up front in the aroma. Malt was weak and light.

Like the red ale, this was over carbonated. Flavors were weakened and overshadowed. Seltzer feeling. Hollow

On tap at Dostal Alley poured a clear reddish brown with a lasting tan head. Aromas of carmel, graininess, earthiness and light butterscotch. Palate was medium bodied and smooth with a dry finish. Flavors of carmel, earthiness and light graininess with a smooth dry malty finish.

Sometimes know as the Brown :). Served a more chestnut brown color with decent clarity and one of the better head retentions of the Dostal Alley beers. Limited lacing.

The nose is light overall but some noticeable roast quality. Some minor toffee notes but still clean. Some light yeast notes as well.

The taste is a little more descript than what the nose indicates. There is a light malt flavor with roasted malt coming out. Some minor caramel and toffee notes but is buried behind the roast. Overall the malt is light which supports the roast. Some minor earthy hops are detectable on the back and as well. There is a sudsy flavor that is common on all Dostal Alley that is a bit off. Clean yeast flavors, would have like more of an English backing but ok.

The body is light as is for style. There is a bit of a watery taste that helps leave a wispy finish. Overall a little odd with the stronger roast flavor but for style its ok.
