Known as underground savages, prospectors of the BC gold rush were rewarded handsomely for their TOIL. Rumour has it that, in the saloons of Barkerville, there was so much gold dust shed from miner’s clothes that a profit could be made just by sweeping the floor.

Cash in with 18 Karat Ale, a smooth and balanced blend of malted barley and hops that will lure you back for the motherload.

650ml bottle, at 5% ABV. Nice old-timey mining theme pervading this brewery's offerings.

This beer pours a hazy, medium copper amber colour, with two fingers of puffy, loosely foamy, and bubbly ecru head, which leaves some layered sudsy lace around the glass as it evenly subsides.

It smells of biscuity, bready pale malt, a touch of caramel sweetness, generic citrus zest, further bruised apple and pear notes, and some plain leafy, grassy hops. The taste is gritty, grainy, and still nice 'n biscuity caramel and pale malt, muddled stone fruit, a lessened orange and white grapefruit bitterness, a faint hint of buttered white bread, and tame herbal, leafy, and grassy hops.

The bubbles are quite able in their supportive and probing frothy maneuvers, the body a solid middleweight, and kind of edgy in its game attempt at overall smoothness. It finishes trending dry, the biscuity element not giving up the ghost just yet, while the fruity contingent sheds any semblance of its inherent sweetness.

If I didn't know any better, I'd swear that this was a generally well-made ESB - the malt and hops bearing that out, even if the much too well rounded ABV says otherwise. Easy to drink, is all I can aver about this one, and leave it to the rest of you to discover this on your own.

Appearance - Pours an amber/ copper with a finger of bubbly head.

Smell - citrus hops, caramalts, fruity esters.

Taste - Nice punch from the citrus hops followed by the sweet caramalts and fruity esters round this brew out.

Mouthfeel - Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Finishes with a pleasant bitterness.

Overall - For a first go for this brewery, they deliver a solid American Amber with a pleasant citrus hop profile and a supporting caramalt backbone. If you stumble across this one grab a bottle.

A: Pours a beautiful hazy deep amber with a good inch of thick foam that slowly disappears leaving a medium lacing behind.

S: Sweet, fruity with some caramel malts. Smells great.

T: Malts and hops are very well balanced.

M: Medium to heavy bodied with a nice round feel and a crisp finish.

O: I am more of an IPA enthusiast but this english pale ale grabbed my attention from the very moment I smelled and looked at it. Its taste didn't come short of its smell and the mouthfeel is just great. I read some of the other reviews and seems like people are expecting an IPA. Not sure why? This is a true English Pale Ale. Put simply, this beer is awesome. I would strongly recommend it to any beer fan as it is so well balanced in every aspect that I am sure everyone can appreciate it. A great effort for a first brew from this new brewery.

4.9% abv.

I'm staking my claim to the first review!

A: Crystal, clear, golden amber with a slightly off-white head, some retention, some lace.

S: Opens with an initial floral hopping, which subsides into citrus & earth. Hints of caramel and buttery diacetyl.

T: The diacetyl is obvious, but not overbearing. Along with the earthy citrus (Golding hops?), this seems very British. Light toffee and caramel sweetness is offset with a good bitterness.

M: Smooth, moderate body has an off-dry finish.

O: I was expecting more of a west coast ale, but this is a decent bitter.
