22 oz bottle purchased and stored cold.

Pours dark red-brown with a very durable and creamy beige head. Good lacng.

Aroma: sweet; slightly boozy, a bit fruity, and nicely bready.

Flavor: bready; raisins and other dark fruits; more obvious hops than usual for style; alcohol esters. Moderately boozy for style.

Feel: medium body and soft, medium+ carbonation. Warming

O: A slightly hoppy barleywine.

Appearance:
Dark brown body with red and amber hues and clear towards the outer edges while maintaining a slightly murky center. The head is a light tan color, creamy and creates a thick even lacing all around the glass.
Smell:
Mild hops covered up by dark fruits and mild spices.
Taste:
The dark fruits carry the alcohol very well, it’s also bready and the esters come out just as it hits the middle of your mouth.
Mouthfeel:
This is a good example of a heavy bodied ale that just envelopes your mouth and just warms it up with alcohol.
Overall:
This is my second rating for this style and so far both have been great. This ale in particular is smooth (for the amount of alcohol it has) mildly sweet and very entertaining to drink.

22 oz bomber pours a dark crimson color with a moderate tan head. Fair retention and very nice lace.

Nose is caramel-coated apple with a fair amount of toast and pine/grass hops.

Taste is like a sugar-coated grapefruit with an almost chocolate/caramel malt that reminds me of a Charleston Chew. It has a strong alcohol presence right now, but I think it will smooth out nicely in a year or two. The maris otter gives it an earthy, decidedly English flair, but the hops have an American lean. Good beer, at least as good, if not better than any of the Barleywines from the DR series.
