Saint Arnold Icon Texas Common has a medium, cream-colored, somewhat Pepsi-Cola fizz head of foam, a hazy, rust-red appearance, tight bubble streams, noticeable powdery sediment throughout, and almost no lacing left on the glass. The aroma is of passion fruit and tea-like tannin. Taste is of tropical fruit, sugar, tannin, and white bread crust, with a decent hop bitterness to back it up. Mouthfeel is medium, and Saint Arnold Icon Texas Common finishes semi-dry and easy drinking.

12 oz bottle pours a mostly clear copper color with a fairly small cap of off-white head. Decent retention and just a little lace.

The mosaic hops really change up the aroma here - very tropical aroma infused with a style that usually leans earthy with toasty malt. Some toast peeks through under the hops with a little minerality and sulfur yeast.

Taste has a pleasant hop flavor that plays nicely with some caramel maltiness and toast. The fruitiness works well and gives the beer a complexity the style rarely achieves. This one also does not seem to be as dry as Anchor Steam. Im glad the hops throw down more in the aroma and flavor as opposed to an overly bitter finish. A tasty brew and shows some really nice innovation, another winner from the ICON series.

Bought Fresh four pack from local grocery store. Poured overly cold (30°) straight into a standard drinking glass.
Pours a crystal clear amber red with an eggshell color head that dissipates quickly.

Steam beer or common beer is a delicate, crisp and slightly sweet style from my experience. I haven't had an Anchor in years but I used to drink it all the time back in my younger years.

I typically like everything Saint Arnold brews. I really love hops and I am a huge IPA fan.
But this beer is odd. I can't tell what is behind the hops. I haven'thad a lot of experience with Mosaic Hops but they are very strong. This beer tastes good, don't get me wrong. The hop character is lovely.
But this is kinda disappointing overall. Too much going on for the style. Good beer. Should be labeled as a Pale Ale or an IPA though.

Update- I saved one of the Icon Texas Common to compare side by side with a standard Steam style beer. Bought a single Anchor as it is probably the style standard. I was right, the style is just way too delicate in my opinion to be hopped like that. Lowered my score. Standing by my original comment.
