I got six pack when this thing came out. Stuck two in my beer closet to see how it ages. Problem is I don't remember how it tasted before.

Poured it into a snifter since I'm a fancy pants. Looks dark brown, with a tan head that left a fair amount of lacing.

I don't remember it smelling this nice before. Dark fruits and maybe a little spiciness. It reminds me of red wine.

Tastes a lot like it smells. Very spicy. Not very sweet, and has a lighter body than I would have expected. The finish tastes like alcohol and dark fruit. Its really pleasant. I wish I had stuck all these in my closet since I don't remember it being so good.

Half way thru the bottle you start to taste a citrusy flavor. I guess its from the wheatbeer yeast. Up to that point I might have called it a Belgian Dark Strong Ale or something similar. People should brew this style more often. Hops are in there if you look for them, but they only serve to add some balance to the whole thing. The esters are the star of the show here.

Poured into an E&J Casj & Cream glass on 2/9/12

Thanks to mhewes

Cherry brown with dulled ruby highlights. One thumb of fizzy foam shuffles away in no time with a half peninsula and a tight ring of retention. No lace. Then again, I did work on this for nearly two hours.

Very tangy wheat, toasted grain, dusty yeast, over-ripe and rotting fruit. Right in the glass it smells like a tart mess; this issues is somewhat diminished over time. The best way to describe the taste is to prep up and do your best Tim Taylor. Fluffy wheat, burnt dark grains, dirge-like bitterness in the vein of coffee or dark chocolate. Vinous dark fruit overtones. You know, I took a sip right after I poured it an hour and twenty minutes ago and I thought it was terrible. Now, it's merely not all that good. Amazing what a little time does, eh? Another plus is that the harsh carbonation has died down letting the plump, grainy roll around, begging for it's back to be scratched. Subtle booze.

This one isn't that great. There are enough passable qualities to keep me working through the bottle. The second pour finds a muddy appearance, a more tart nose and a dirty, earthy flavor. I don't have any non-tickables on hand, so I reckon I'll just finish it.

A - Pours a pitch black with 3 inches of off-white foam
S - light aroma, some sweet malts, hints of cloves, banana, wheat as well
T- light wheat grain flavor, there is a faint chocolate flavor with some plums and raisins
M - light to medium bodied, crisp carbonation
D - the flavor is ok, but not one that I would want to drink regularly. I think they missed the mark on this one.

Pours a deep dark chocolate brown color with a frothy beige head that slowly settles into a thin ring. Minimal lacing.

Slightly spicy aroma with hints of pepper and clove countered by bready yeast and some sweeter notes. Picking up chocolate malt, caramel and hazelnut.

Medium bodied with a balance of zesty spice, citrus and sweet malt. Lots of peppery, zesty clove up front followed by bready yeast, banana and a more prominent malt profile than the nose hinted at. Notes of caramel and hazelnut along with some banana, brown sugar and cinnamon. Pretty quaffable with a dry finish.
