Appearance: Cloudy light gold, thin white head that vanished to just a ring around the side of the glass right away.

Smell: Quite strange, but I for some reason smell a barbecue essence in the aroma. The wheat malt and pilsener malts create an herbal bitterness and sweetness that just smells like some smoked meat to me for some reason or another. I also pick up a little hop character as well, but very subtle, mainly contributing the herbal character mentioned before.

Taste: The first thing that you notice is a sourness right up front, and you get the big wheat malt flavor and hop character after that. This beer has a wonderful freshness about its taste, there is a lot going on in the flavor and if you let it overwhelm you this beer could easily overwhelm you, but I really quite like it.

Mouthfeel: A nice crisp carbonation feel, opens up the palate for some of those more subtle herbal characters on the back of the tongue.

Overall: This is a strange beer, the same drinker could find it both delicious and off-putting, it is all about context. This would go great during the summer or when paired with food, but if you aren't in the mood for that sourness, it could really spoil your enjoyment. But that part aside, right now I am pairing it with a bacon, egg, and cheese sandwich on sourdough and it is great.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a weizen.

A: Golden hue. Moderate effervescence. Pours a half finger, bubbly, white head. Settles quickly. No real lacing.

S: Wheat, yeast, lemon citrus, and freshly cut grass.

T: Very wheat forward, prominent amounts of lemon citrus. Tastes like it smells.

M: Light, crisp, and refreshing. A little citrus hangs on the palate.

D: Session.

Atmosphere is pretty good. Moderate effervescence, slight head, no real lacing. Nose is wheaty and nicely accentuated with plenty of grass and citrus. Wheat and crisp citrus. Overall, this is a good quaff.
