Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a weizen.

A: Golden hue. Moderate effervescence. Pours a half finger, bubbly, white head. Settles quickly. No real lacing.

S: Wheat, yeast, lemon citrus, and freshly cut grass.

T: Very wheat forward, prominent amounts of lemon citrus. Tastes like it smells.

M: Light, crisp, and refreshing. A little citrus hangs on the palate.

D: Session.

Atmosphere is pretty good. Moderate effervescence, slight head, no real lacing. Nose is wheaty and nicely accentuated with plenty of grass and citrus. Wheat and crisp citrus. Overall, this is a good quaff.

Drank on tap at the Flying Saucer in Addison.

The beer pours a hazy yellow color with a white head. It looks about like a hefeweizen should look. The aroma is a mix of bananas and wheat. I don't get too much clove character. The flavor is heavy on the bananas with a little bit of lemon and some wheat. There are some spices, but it is not quite the clove that you get it other hefeweizens. Medium, very soft mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Poured from a bottle into a pint glass.

Appearance: Hazy yellow with a significant amount of carbonation. This white head that lingered with no lacing on the glass.

Smell: Cloves, grass, wheat, citrus

Mouthfeel/Taste: Smooth light bodied, drinks like a soda. Taste of grassy notes with lemon and cloves.

Overall: Good brew, I would have this one again.

Thanks to davacano for sending this in the Refreshing Summer BIF

I tasted Saint Arnold Weedwacker without knowing what it was and from the aroma and taste, I guessed it was a Witbier because of the spiciness and lemony, fruity twang. I was suprised that this was listed as a hefeweizen, because I often get more banana, a little less clove and definitely less sweet citrus. Overall, though, it's a beautiful beer with a nice thick head and great foam retention, though not great lacing. The smell is a little understated, dominated mostly by the clove yeast. The beer is a little undercarbonated for style, but not bad. The beer is a little sweet for my taste and the balance of the phenols and esters is not quite right. However, I thought this was a delicious beer and something I'm going to enjoying having more of.

A stray yellow/gold color that's not clear but not cloudy either, just thicker or something colored beer that sits below a small to medium head that dies rather quickly into a small lacing.

Banana, cloves, and a lemony citrus aroma, defines the style very well.

More banana, cloves, and lemony citrus goodness in the modestly carbonated taste.

A light dry with a very light lemon background in the aftertaste.

a pretty decent hefe, I could drink a few of these.

I've been a skeptic of St Arnolds, but they have finally put out a beer I love, and will drink a lot of this summer, as it is the ideal summer beer.

Poured into pint glass from bottle. Aggressive pour creates a nice fluffy head that actually has nice retention, and leaves awesome lacing on the glass. I'm impressed so far. Smell- fresh cut grass, bananas, cloves, light, airy, refreshing. Taste- bananas, and then I can definitely tell that this beer was made from the Lawnmower base- the refreshing base of the Kolsch beer is here, but it just works perfectly with the belgian yeast. Mouthfeel- nice carbonation, perfect when drank cold! Drinkability- this is something I can pound all summer. I found my perfect Houston session beer.

Sain Arnold Weedwacker - bought this one on a whim at the beer store. Interesting labels always grab me for whatever reason... must be the shiny colors...

Appearance - Average look, almost an unfiltered look of a medium brown. Nothing to brag about here but still looks much better than a natty light

Smell - Almost sweet wheat smell to it, but still not there as well as a more sought after hefeweizen.

Taste - This is what this beer brings to the table. The taste is great and gives off a powerful sugar and honey like. The first hit fades away to a much more mellow second that sticks with you.

Mouthfeel - Better than an average beer, but gives a more fizzy feel that I appreciate.

Overall - 3.5, great affordable beer that is much improved over a regular bud light!

This the last beer in my fridge! :( So, it's hot, hot, hot in Texas so what's better than drinking a lighter and refreshing beer, a hefeweizen, from a Texas brewery.

Weedwacker looks like pineapple juice. It's a murky yellow that forms a white and frothy, thick, and white head. Not much retention or lacing. Looks interesting.

The strongest smells are lemon and straw. Very yeasty and a bit peppery. Smells yummy.

I really like the flavors here. It's not too yeasty, not too citrusy, not too sweet. All of the flavors balance well. Everything in your usual hefeweizen is in this. Banana and clove show up along with some pepperiness. Hefeweizens aren't one of my favorite styles but this one impresses me. I think it's because it's not as sweet as many other hefeweizens. In the finish it has a strong cracker flavor.

This is medium-bodied but on the thinner side. It's pretty creamy but the medium-high carbonation adds some bite to it that keeps things refreshing. Very drinkable. Perfect for a hot summer day in Texas.

Fours all the way!

Split a six-pack with a friend. I was expecting more of an American wheat based on Arnold's description, but instead found a pleasant and drinkable German-style wheat. The flavor is heavy on clove and lemon with a crisp, lightly bready finish. There's a juicy element mixed in with a touch of banana. All in all, this is a damn tasty hefe that can stand up to the German classics.
