On tap at Square Burger in McKinney.

The beer pours a hazy light brown color with a white head. The aroma is reminiscent of a saison with some lemon, Belgian yeast and pepper characteristics, but there is also some toffee in there from the brown ale base.

The flavor is very similar. I get some light caramel and cocoa, as well as some yeast and peppery notes. For the style, there is quite a bit of grassy hop characteristic and the bitterness is light. Medium mouthfeel and medium carbonation.

Had this on tap poured into a pint glass

A: poured a murky light brown color, almost what you would get if you mixed caramel milk chocolate together.  Had one finger of  bright white frothy head that dissapeared quickly and left a very thin cover throughout the beer.  Minimal lacing

S: The smell was the highlight of the beer.  Smells of sweet candy Belgian yeast with some nice spice in the background.

T:  The fruitiness shines over the brown characteristics.  But I feel that it is all yeast and no depth.  Its missing something that's keeping this beer from being excellent

M:  Moderately carbonated, the saison characteristics are more prevalent over the brown.  But it is lacking a good finish.

O: I think this is the best beer in their movable series so far.  It was very enjoyable and I think it would be better to have outside on a sunny day.  Not a great beer, but enjoyable for sure

Had this limited Saison on cask at the Ginger Man (Fort Worth), poured into a standard pint glass.

This beer pours a cloudy brown with hints of orange hues, and a very modest tan head that had little to no retention.

Picked up on the dark fruity Belgian yeast aromas almost immediately, very reminiscent to a Belgian dubbel. Not much more going on here other than some faint breadiness. Taste pretty much mimicks the nose. Strong dark fruit (I'm getting plum and raisin) presence, with some spiceyness.

Medium body with very light, almost non existent, carbonation that took away from the overall feel. Not flat... just not how I prefer. Mild tartness.

Overall not bad, but also not too impressed with this version of SA's "Moveable Yeast" series. I can appreciate the concept of focusing on the flavor contribution of yeast... this one just falls abit short.

A: The beer pours a cloudy brown color with notes of amber and a thin tan head.

S: Smells mostly like a brown ale. Sweet and bready with a hint of toasted and roasted malts, and maybe a little bit of chocolate. Earthy notes along with a mild fruitiness (perhaps some lemon zest) are the indicators of the saison yeast strain.

T: The flavor offers up more of a fruitiness and earthy character letting you know this isn't just a brown ale. A slightly chalky character to it, too. Notes of the base brown ale are still there such as chocolate and toasted malts.

M: Medium in body with a moderate carbonation.

O: The combination of saison yeast and brown ale is an interesting idea, but I don't know if this particular brown ale recipe was the best use of that idea.

Had this on tap at the Black Star Co-op. Lasted a lot longer than a lot of the other movable yeast offerings.

This beer looks like a standard brown ale. No more. No less.

The nose is straight Belgian. I wanna say saison, but it's really more of a dubbel. Strange. The yeast is pretty much the only thing I pick up outta this.

The taste is also like a bland dubbel. Good yeast, but that's it. Could be a lot more... and any standard saison would be better. Should have used the Wyeast 3711 IMO. Not offensive in any way and pretty enjoyable. Could be a heck of a lot better.

A: Pours with the coloring that i have come to expect with all browns, with a medium clarity (definitely not a pretty beer) below a light golden head.

S: The yeast aromas are definitely prevalent but not so much that they over power. Remnants of fruit follow with very little spice character.

T: The Belgian yeast dominants the flavor up front and it ends with a pleasant lingering draw.

M/D: A lighter to medium body. Moderate/light carbonation. this being the case i found it very easy to enjoy with very little thought.

I definitely agree with the other poster that this is probably the weakest link in the Moveable Yeast Series too. however, being that its a super drinkable beer for my tastes, it really hit the spot.

A: Pours the typical brown color that one would expect from the base beer. Very nice clarity. A one finger white head forms. Some lace is left behind.
S: Some musky yeast aromas. Plenty of fruity esters as well. I get some bananas and a bit of spice.
T: Yeast and esters are up front and center. The two take over the show. I can't get much else.
M/D: A lighter to medium body. Moderate carbonation, but just a little to thin overall. Not hard to drink for the most part.

Probably the weakest link so far in the Moveable Yeast Series. Nothing really bad, but just way to one dimensional.
