From notes L: Pours slightly hazy orangish amber under a 1” rocky cream colored foam cap.
S: Stone fruit, citrus, light grains.
T: Rich, complex interaction between light chocolate and caramel flavors from the malt and hop and yeast driven fruit flavors. Big peach notes mellow a bitter hop finish.
F: Medium body and slightly below medium carbonation, slight warming.
O: A big, tasty beer.

Serving Type: 12 oz bottle poured into a stemmed pilsener (beer tulip) glass.

Appearance: Deep, dark, cloudy amber. Medium, frothy head and moderate lacing.

Smell: Warm, sweet caramel. Herbal bitters and citrus build as it warms (like an old fashioned?).

Taste: Toffee and caramel without too much sweetness; slight citrus. Crisp, balanced bitter finish.

Mouthfeel: Medium body, cleaner than the sweet aroma and taste suggest (i.e. not too sticky). Just enough (moderate) carbonation. Warm without betraying its ABV.

Overall: Nicely mellowed after 3+ years. No longer assertively hoppy, but still enough hop character to balance a full, malty ale.

Follow-up: A rich malt bomb now (21-May-16), toffee, caramel, dark fruit and grain dominate as well as oxidized sherry notes. Some residual bitterness but no more hop character remains.
