On tap.

Man. I love this stuff. I picked up three bottles this year, but haven't cracked one open yet. I was able to try it first on tap at a Flying Saucer BeerFeast.

Fantastic. As a good friend noted, it tastes like pumpkin pie with a delicious touch of chocolate. I wish it was year round. I wish it was easier to get. It's a limited release in bombers and sells out in Houston, Texas very quickly. First day at most locations.

If you get a chance to try it, do it.

Like any other stout this poured without any inkling of pumpkin. The head was thick with a sticky foam that held a nice lacing.

The nose seem well balanced between the spice and pumpkin malt. The spices were nutmeg, cinnamon, anise and carraway while the malt kept a bready, caramel malt and gourd scent.

The flavors were balanced but different as the nutmeg lead the way. The malty pumpkin then kept the nutmeg in check. There was then a finish of dry chocolate, toast and black licorice.

The feel is thick and full yet dry in the end.

This ranks as a superior ale but really sets the bar high for pumpkin beers.

Dark fudge brown with a mohagany hue around the edges. Very little carbonation activity and within a minute is reduced to none, having a flat appearance.

The smell screams autumn... Cinnamon, nutmeg, pumpkin spice. Some root beer and molasses.

The fall spices dominate the flavor. Again with the root beer and molasses. It inexplicably finishes with a sour green apple, but with all the fall flavors just adds another.

It has a lighter body for a stout, but I see this more of a pumpkin and than a stout. It also has crisp carbonation that wasn't expected.

A very nice drink. It has considerable depth for a pumpkin beer.

Can't really read the writing on this bottle but this is the 2013 batch.

A: Pours black with a tall, frothy light brown head. Head fizzes out somewhat quickly. Zero sign of lacing. Decent retention.

S: Pumpkin and pumpkin spices abound. Notable nutmeg, cinnamon and allspice. Smells like fresh, hot pumpkin pie. Touch of chocolate from the roasted malt but the spices dominate here.

T: Whoa. Burst of pumpkin and pumpkin pie spices as mentioned above. Loads of cinnamon with nutmeg and allspice joining it. Strong chocolate from the roasted malt joins it however and makes for a wonderful combination. Cinnamon is quite strong, lending almost a bit of heat. Get some grainy cinnamon and sugar in the finish really. It's sweet and spicy in general. Lingering pumpkin spices between sips.

M: Fairly heavy bodied, viscous and smooth.

O: Excellent pumpkin beer. Top of the line, in my opinion. Great combination of pumpkin pie and chocolate really makes this one stand out. Big, bold flavors and top-notch balance pull this one together nicely. One of the very best. Absolutely delicious.

Pour is deep brown, almost black with a frothy tan head and great lacing. Big spice - nutmeg, cinnamon, pepper - lightly roasty, big pumpkin, and sweet potatoes in the aroma. Taste is roasty, tangy, sweet potatoes, bourbon, raisins, heavy cinnamon, nutmeg, and light vanilla with big spicy finish. Slick mouthfeel with media carbonation. Really nice use of spice with well hidden alcohol. Chocolate pumpkin pie.

2013 vintage

A: A finger of dark tan head was created when poured into a small scale snifter glass and receded moderately slow. The beer is a very dark brown almost black if you don't backlight it and appears to have good clarity. Swirling the glass kicks up some streaking lacing.

S: Moderately strong aroma with pumpkin meat, nutmeg, all spice, cinnamon some clove and hint of fried apple. No malt or hop aroma comes through even after it warms up. Smells like pumpkin pie.

T: First sip is very similar to the aroma, I get the pumpkin pie spices more and not as much pumpkin flavor as I'd hoped for. Nutmeg, all spice, cinnamon and clove. The malt profile comes through faintly with some chocolate and toasty notes, but overall balance is sweet an mostly from the spices. No hop flavor I can detect. Bitterness is moderate and comes from both the hops and spices.

M: A bit thin tasting for a stout, medium bodied with higher carbonation. No astringency from the malts but there is some harshness from the spices, cinnamon in particular I belive.

O: I was hoping for more of a beery pumpkin beer with this one, but it fell short. The over powering spices always kill it for me but I was hoping the stout base beer would bring more to the table.
