Appearance: Deep, opaque brown in color, with a small, dense, and persistent tan-colored head. Thin lacing coats the glass walls.
Aroma: Deep and profound notes of pumpkin pie spices: nutmeg, cinnamon, and cloves. A slight bitter cocoa and earth note is present as well.
Taste: Opens with a burst of sweet, spicy notes. I am made to think of pumpkin pie, with brown sugar, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, cloves, and an earthy note as well. There is a note of spicy, warming alcohol also. The finish presents a flourish of spices, bitter cocoa, and mild hops. Bitter cocoa and earth lingers on past the close of the taste.
Mouth feel: Smooth, soft, and very pleasant.
Drinkability/notes: A spectacular and superb beer. It would certainly be a gracious accompaniment to a holiday dinner. Best served and consumed a bit cold, when too warm, it seems to acquire off-flavors.
Presentation: Presented in a twenty-two ounce brown glass bomber, capped with a pop-off crown, served in a Pilsener glass.
Serving type: bottle
