Sampled at the Hay Merchant, Houston TX; April 2012
The beer arrives from the tap with a Brilliantly clear red color. It is topped by a pale tan colored head. Holy hops, the aroma is laden with notes of lychee and pineapple backed by pine and menthol aromatics.
The flavor has a big hop bitterness to it that remains quite smooth. There is lots of fruit, but the herbal character is actually the dominant hop note in the flavor; the opposite of the aroma. There is still a lot of fruity hop notes here though with ample lychee, pineapple, a sort of floral concentrated peach like note, and definite apricot. The herbal side contributes flavors of pine, again some menthol, as well as some hemp oil like notes. The body of this brew is quite smooth, definitely viscous and perhaps a touch heavy fro something labled an IPA, but it is definitely well within the double IPA range.
This is very nice; it is quite a bit hoppier than my previous experience would have expected out of Saint Arnold. This is a huge hop fix for me after a long day of travel and a must get for those hop heads out there.

Endeavour is a looker. Orange gold in color with a soft white cap that lasts and laces the glass. Large hop oil slicked bubbles from a deep pour refuse to pop on the surface.
The nose to me should be bolder for an IIPA. Don't get me wrong there is a strong hop presence with gobs of tropical fruit and pine, but an imperial should punch you in the face with hops.
Now this is what I'm talking about! The taste is almost all hops with a start to finish hop bill supported by sweet caramelized malts. Those hops range from tropical to resin and really hit the spot.
Mouthfeel also steps up the pace with complimentary pinch to the mouth full of hop flavors. A good carbonation delivers that tand to every taste bud and makes this a great drinking experience. I'm glad St. Arnold brought this one back. This is a solid beer and one I hope to see again and again in the fridge. I just have to beat my wife to them before she drinks them all.
