A visually appealing West Coast style DIPA. Pours with a thick head and produces plenty of lace with a slightly red hue. A few swirls produces plenty of caramel, tropical fruit, and a touch of alcohol. Carbonation is a bit on the high side and the body is medium. Leans toward the bitter side, although there's a healthy amount of sugar there. More alcohol in the finish. Strong bitter finish that fades quickly. Best example of a California double that I've come across from a Texas brewery.

Received in a BIF from FlyingKelly! thanks for the awesome Texas brews.

Appearance is a medium amber, crystal clear brew. Head doesn't leave for a second. Very pretty. Upon first sip, I thought this was a nice little single IPA ranging around 5.5% very balanced with a malt backbone that would make some stouts jealous. Hoppy character with some dank resinous tones. I like the smell.

Taste. Yep, this thing rules. I could drink this over and over. The lightest hop bitterness of a 9.5% double IPA I've ever tasted. It isn't east coast and it certainly isn't west either. It's a great Texas double ipa.

Totally blown away at how drinkable this double IPA is. Worth seeking out if you're in Texas.

Just wanted to say, HOOKEM HORNS!

This beer is seriously good!!! The hops are tropical in the true sense, not overwhelming and cloying. The beer finishes dry, especially given the stiff malt backbone. Lacing is epic, clarity fantastic, can't get much better. This rivals MANY west coast IPA's I've had. Truly fantastic. Trade or travel for this; it will be worth it.

Really just about everything about this beer was a surprise, and a good one at that. For one, I thought I had picked a barleywine out of my beer fridge, but upon popping the bottle it was clear this was no barleywine! Hops everywhere. Great aroma, flavor, perfect bitterness (which was high, but good for this beer), everything just said "tasty."

Mostly what stood out for me was citric and pine-forest hops. Not much malt comes through, so I wouldn't call it balanced, but then IPAs aren't really a balanced style anyway.

Body was medium and pretty dry, overall the beer was very tasty and I'll have to stop by the place where I found it again and see if they have some more.
