Poured into a snifter

A: Light amber. A white half finger head that dissipates quickly. Decent lacing.

S: Bring on those piney hops. Some citrus aspects protrude as well.

T: For an imperial IPA, the hops are very smooth with a low grapefruit bitterness. Lemons and light malts even out the taste. Very nice.

M: Medium with medium carbonation.

O: I see why Endeavor is such a popular drink from St. Arnold. Being more of a malt fan, the hops didn't overwhelm me. Endeavor to pick up a bottle or two.

Amidst the beer wasteland of Texas there are some fine craft beers from Austin and Houston. One of them happens to be St. Arnold, who has been at the craft for over ten years. Their double IPA, Endeavor, is outstandiing! Very subtle hop-viscosity on the palate, just the way I like it., reminds me somewhat of a Jailai IPA out of Tampa. Nice bitterness, but just not over the top. Highly recommended!

Bottled 12/03/12, consumed 2/8/2013...so not as fresh as I would like but should still be basically okay.

Pours a pretty standard amber color, very clear, very thick off white head.

Smells pretty bready and malty, some grass, pine cone, some bright lemon...not my kind of IPA really, and doesn't smell super fresh. Not really impressed.

Tastes bready and malty too but a little more hops here, fairly bitter, mild lemon and orange, some zesty spice. Some sweetness from the booze. Decent.

Mouthfeel is good, strong carbonation and a pretty creamy feel. Alcohol noticeable but not rely distracting.

This is okay but overall pretty disappointing. Maybe it would be better a month fresher.

Pours out to a thin white head (server poured it too carefully?) and amber orange color. Aroma is floral and citrus hops and honey malt sweetness. Flavor is a combination of malty sweetness, floral and citrus hops, but with a barely balanced resiny bitterness (maybe my palate is compromized?) mouthfeel is moderate and sticky which is good for the style. Overall it has great flavors but lacks the bitter punch but it was late and my perceptions may be off. Anyway, I truly enjoyed it and it generally fits the style.

Sampled on tap at BJ's in Round Rock. Golden and very clear with great lacing. Great hop aroma with more pine that citrus. Rich hoppy flavors with a moderate bitterness but an explosion of hop oils and flavors. Must be lots of late addition hops. This is definitely one to try.
