12 oz bottle pours a fairly clear, dark brown color with a modest cap of tan head. Average retention and lace.

Nose is a good blend of yeast and malt. fruitcake meets a chocolate and caramel drizzled cake doughnut.

Taste is really smoothing out nicely with a few months on it now. The abv has really tamed down and the fruit/malt interplay is just about right. Caramel and chocolate vie for attention and the yeast goes for a nice strawberry shortcake imitation. Mouthfeel is nice and rich too. This might be up there with my favorite DRs - 11, 9 and 5.

Dark brownish-purple hue. Opaque. Sandy colored and whisky head that dissolves in a hurry leaving no trace.

Sweet plums, grape crush, brown sugar, dates in the aroma.

The grape crush pops in the flavor. Figs, dates, brown sugar, and caramel add more sweetness. Barley a hint of booze despite being 11%. Slightly metallic aftertaste is the only knock.

Mouthfeel is full and chewy. Again with the slightly metallic, almost rusty mouthfeel.

I very much enjoyed this beer. The finish is the only downside and, while noticeable, isn't a huge distraction.

Warming aroma of malt and booze rise slowly from the chalice, not too overpowering not be underestimated. Pours the darkest hue of red almost black, reminds me of blackberries. The taste is completely accurate to the description, very slight bitterness, maltiness and a dryness that wraps it all up, until you start drinking again. Very pleasent, very enjoyable indeed.
