Poured from a bottle into a Chimay chalice. Very cherry cola like with dark appearance and red highlights. Not much head and the bubbles are coarse like soft drink bubbles. Would prefer a quad go have smaller bubbles.

Nose is inviting. Alcohol is clearly there, but buried in dark fruits, and a good balance of sweetness and maltiness.

Taste is great, especially as it warms. Some booziness, but the dark fruits really show up on the finish. Slight aftertaste from the alcohol.

Mouth feel is a little thin but not bad.

Overall a great Cowboy Quad worth picking up and sipping.

Bomber poured into a Trappist glass.

Comes out brown looking dark and imposing in the glass. Ruby highlights are revealed in the light. Fluffy khaki head settles quickly to a thin topping.

The aroma is full of raisin and fig dark fruitiness, brown sugar, spice, and alcohol.

The flavor hits on the same cylinders as the aroma bringing a nice complexity. Lots of dark fruits, spice, and sweetness in brown sugar and caramel. Toasted bread and plenty of alcohol warmth round it out.

Very smooth drinking, with tingling carbonation, and a medium body.

Bought a sixer at my local HEB in Round Rock for 14 bucks. Very excited to see this here.

Poured about a half finger of off white head that did not last too long. Left a small ring around the pint glass for the duration. Color is cola like.
Took a while for the dark fruits scent to wake up...but it did. Mixed in nicely with some of the sweet malt, maybe a bit of bubblegum as well.
Man, that's pretty tasty; but let it warm a bit folks. Certainly strong malt backbone flavor with this one. Some of the dark fruits coming in too...figs, plum, tasty bready sweet malt. Just a nice sipper as you can feel some of the alcohol heat as well. Uber smooth mouthfeel on this one. Lightly carbonated. A wonderful beer for the end of the night.
Certainly a well crafted beer. The booze makes it a one and done for sure, but Saint Arnold appears to have made another winner here.

Poured from a 12 oz bottle into a footed tulip.

A: Dark brown. Pours a slight, brown white head. Settles quickly leaving only a ring around the rim and a smattering of bubbles. Only the slightest lacing quickly retreats into the body of the brew. Head, although slight, renews vigorously with each pour.

S: Roasted malt, almond, raisin, molasses, brown sugar, and bubble gum.

T: Roasted malt. Slightly pungent and bittersweet flavors of raisin, and black licorice.

M: Thick and syrupy. Lightly sweet in the front, pungent and peaty through the middle, and not much of an aftertaste. Very dry finish.

D: Sip, savor, and enjoy.

Atmosphere is pretty good. Dark hue, not much in terms of head or lacing; characteristic of the style. Great nose... roasted malt with a nutty tone, accentuated with sweet and fruity components. Flavor is roasted, with sweet and pungent components for balance. Very smooth...very smooth. No real aftertaste and a dry finish. Overall, this is a great quaff.

12oz, 2/28/13
Westy 12 glass

A: Pours out like cherry cola really. Effervescent. Dark brownish color with hints of red in there. Can almost see through it. Basically no head aside from a collar of light tan head. Rings the glass. Some alcohol legs. Not tons of lacing.

S: Dark fruits for sure: Prunes, plums, raisins, figs, etc. Maybe some leather. Dark chocolate.

T: Big dark fruits right away. Getting those jammy prunes and figs and raisins and plum. Prickly carbonation on tip of tongue. Maybe some hints of dark chocolate in the mid-palate. Some of that old leather that I smelled. Finish is quite dry, lingering dark fruit flavors interweave with that finish.

M: Big medium bodied. Carbonation helps.

Now I must admit after Beermageddon I finally learned what St. Arnold's was, but the Lawnmower ain't got shit on the Divine. This beer is accurately labeled. I'm lucky, blessed that this year when the #13 showed up that it was a Quad and that my local beer man at the Las Colinas Beverages (shout out) told us about it well in advance.

Although I love the chase, this beer didn't sell out as fast as I thought it would, and I was able to procure 2 sixers. I'm keeping one of those to send around to other Abbbp members and BAs, get it if you can.

A purple wine like. Blood burgundy in the glass

S like a quad should Be, smooth, and delicious, grape-like but not acidic like wine

T smooth, awesome taste, plums, prunes, purple

M not overly carbonated and actually want to let it linger

O dear god getting more, outta 100 I'd give it an A, a 93

Poured into a Westmalle Chalice black with a very thin white head that went away fairly quickly.

Listen, I have a bad nose. But I can't get any scent off this quad. That's bad if MY nose can't get anything off a quad.

I got to say, the taste just isn't anything great either. This is really disappointing for something Divine. Three Philosophers has more going for it than this does.

I thought DR8 was my least favorite, but that might be because I'm not a scotch ale fan. But this is . . . .

THE WORST DIVINE RESERVE YET!!!

Come on Brock, I expect better out of you.
