Thanks to rudzud for sharing this one. Also F-ing screw top, wtf guys, even with cheap wax, why! Really why would you do screw tops, I really don't see any possible benefit! Bottle cap says "Toy surprise inside".
Pours a decent creamy very small head, fades semi quickly, very dark molasses color little ruby light getting through.
Nose is quite nice, a mix of bourbon and dark raisin malts. Bourbon out front, bit of vanilla barrel, big sweet malts with caramel and brown sugar and candy, toffee, molasses, some nice raisin and brandy, lots of caramel candies. Just a hint of cocoa though.
Taste is ok, a little thin, then into nice sweet candy, lots of caramel and that candy wheat biscuit toffee, little molasses too, but not syrupy. Mild bitterness, grassy hop, little booze, then into little cocoa and vanilla barrel, mild milk choc and a little raisin. The bourbon is there but much less than the nose. Finish is drier with little sweet malt, little toffee and caramel, biscuit wheat toffee, little bourbon and raisin, that's about it.
Mouth is thin, lighter carb, hint of booze.
Overall mix, but interesting.

12 oz bottle, 3 yrs old. Pours dark brown, almost no carbonation left. Bourbon and candy aroma. Sweet boozy candy sweet flavor, almost like a flat rum and coke. Wish I would've tried this one a year ago.

Picked this one up in a trade with Cisco. Deep dark brown pour with a quickly fading one finger off-white head with decent lacing. The nose is a really nice and unique combination of bourbon and earthy dark fruit notes along with hints of vanilla, oak, cocoa, toffee, coconut, subtle espresso, and a touch of licorice. The taste follows suit with the bourbon once again the star. Loads of cocoa complement the bourbon nicely along with hints of vanilla, oak, coconut, toffee, raisins, and brown bread. The mouthfeel is somewhat light and fizzy with huge drinkability and a nice bittersweet finish. Overall, this is a unique and really flavorful interpretation of the style. Yet another amazing beer in the Bishop's Barrel series. Highly recommended if you can still find one.
