Poured from a bottle into a tulip. Appears a deep orange color. Has a thick, fluffy off-white head that has good staying power, and good lacing.
The nose is somewhat muted, not exactly what you're looking for right after the pour... Citrus and tropical fruit are the main points. There's also some caramel malt noticeable in the background. The taste is not as balanced as the nose. Starts out very bitter with citrus. The caramel malt and some tropical fruit sneaks through in the middle, and the finish is very bitter and lingers with some stickiness. The longer I sip on this, the more I'm digging it. The citrus and tropical fruits real dominate this, and work really well.
Mouthfeel is medium bodied with a smooth feel and not a lot of active carbonation on the palate. Finishes pretty sticky and the feeling lingers. Overall this is a good IPA from a new local brewery. The nose could be amped up a bit, but the bitterness levels are appropriate. Slightly too sticky in the finish for me, but something worth trying and worth grabbing again.
