We stopped by the Engine Room earlier today after attending the Mystic Aquarium in the morning. Our group arrived around noon after locating a parking spot behind the restaurant and it was bustling when we entered. We were seated quickly and I glanced over the beer menu. I remember seeing about 15 or so draft options. All drafts are labeled in great detail with the name of the beer, brewery, location of brewery, ABV % as well as prices and serving size.
The inside is warm, welcoming and rustic. The setting is a restored marine engine building that was perfectly designed to feature nice bar areas and seating with tables. There is also an outdoor patio up front too. The seasoned wooden panels on the walls offer a nice touch. Overall, there is a great design and decor, very cool.
Draft options during my visit included Briney Melon Gose, Brotzeit Bier, Edel-Weiss, Shadows and Dust, Literally Wrote The Book, DDH Hi-Res, Nitro Coffee Milk Stout, Cookie O'Puss and many more. All quality offerings here with beer served in appropriate glassware. They also offer an extensive bourbon selection and mixed cocktails. I had the Literally Wrote The Book which is a double IPA and it was fantastic, can't wait to have it again.
The food was savory and flavorful, as we sampled several offerings from the menu. For my main course I ordered the Grass-Fed Beer Burger which was delicious. The service was friendly and responsive as a whole. At the time it felt like the order took a lot longer than a normal wait, but it was super busy and the focus here is on quality over quantity so I have no complaints.
The Engine Room in Mystic, CT blends a wonderful selection of craft beers and excellent food, clearly recommended if in the area.

Probably my favorite spot on the Shoreline these days; it's become a go-to for birthdays and other special events. Relaxed, industrial vibe; only problem is that it always seems to be jam-packed. Nice little patio for sitting outside makes the wait tolerable. The food is fantastic; the menu seems to be a little different every time I go. The mussels are delicious, and the chicken skins I had last month were completely unique. The beer menu is outstanding; great variety with a mix of local and imports. No better spot in this part of CT.

Very cool industrial renewal... old engine plant... wah-la trendy gastro-pub...I never made it to the dining room, so I can only speak of the bar... enter stage right to U-shaped bar that seats about 25 people. There are also tables and booths around the perimeter. The atmosphere is lively and local... a lot of energy. Eclectic tap list, heavy on the Belgiums. Service was friendly and food was great... I had the shrimp & grits and they were delicious, although on the pricey side.

GREAT beer list (and I do mean GREAT)! GREAT food (and I do mean GREAT). Went here last summer with my wife and daughters. Our only regret is that we had a party to go to that night and were eating light. Everything the staff brought to people tables around us looked amazing. We WILL be back! Wish we lived closer.

Been to the Engine room 3 times now. Beer selection is stellar for 15 draft lines, although the bottle list is cool it can venture into the esoteric. $118 bomber anyone? Draft list is a wide variety from far and near, but always includes 1-2 locals.
Food is generally great, although in 6 meals we have had one loser.
Vibe is good, crowded, but in a good way. I would love to go when parking is not an issue.
Took a really good pic of Six Point Winter warmer there last night with a Christmas tree out the window, but there is no easy way to post it here.

Really great cozy evening spot, perfect for a respite from the cold on a winter's night. Large dining area with bench seating in front of the kitchen and bench seats in front of the windows. Large U-shaped bar with large booths along the wall.
Great menu, albeit pricey, and everything tasted awesome (try the hushpuppies). Beer selection was up to par, as well, had Beer'd and Kent Falls. Service was a bit stressed on a busy Friday, and the wait to receive the check was considerable, so plan accordingly.
Will definitely visit again.

Love the vibe! Perfect spot with large bar, great layout, TV but just one. Walked in and loved it, but the food was just OK, service was mediocre and it is definitely overpriced.

The best spot for food and good beer in southeast connecticut. Not the largest tap list but it is well thought out. The food is simply awesome, get a burger and enjoy!

I stopped in here with the family while on vacation in the area. The wife couldn't decide where to eat so I made the executive decision. Cool industrial space with a great deck at the main entrance. Taps about 12 deep all craft, some locals, really well thought out selections too. They have a large selection of whiskey but not being my thing I'm not sure the quality. The menu is kind of limited and I got flack for that, although no one complained about the quality of their food in fact they really enjoyed it. Burgers, sandwiches, salads, a couple of entrees and a smattering of appetizers, all nicely prepared and locally sourced. Service was prompt and available. My wallet did a bit of weeping on the way out the door, but I would go back in a heartbeat if in the area.

Absolutely one of the best places I've been in CT. Jeremy and "Sure Shot" are awesome! Ask for them! The food, especially the burgers, are out of this world good! I got some complimentary beer when a keg kicked, and even a sample of bourbon that the servers hadn't opened and tried and therefore were unable to describe. Lots of space, great food and staff and drinks... what more could you wants?! Try it!

Atmosphere has some pros and cons. It's a nice interior, big and spacey; you can see right into the kitchen; and it has a nice look overall. However, it's extremely noisy.
Really good beer on tap, from across the US as well as Belgium and Germany - all craft. Very, very good beer.
Service was only OK; things ran pretty slow, despite having a very full kitchen staff.
Selection, while very good, was very limited. About a dozen beers on tap, and twice as many bottles. Again, everything was good, but just not a lot of options.
Same goes for the food. The menu is really, really small, but the food is high quality. If you want a great burger, it's a good option.
Finally, prices ran a little high. I attribute this to the location in downtown Mystic. $5 for a side of fries; burgers over $10; beers often $10 or more (on draft).
Note: no kids menu, no booster seats, no high chairs. Add to that the noisy interior and the higher prices, and you should take the family elsewhere.
This would be a good spot to stop by with friends or co-workers, or even possibly a date night.
Edit: if you can find room at the bar, service is much better. They have a great happy hour (4-6 pm) offering: $4 draft, $5 burger. They now have outside seating, as well.
