On-tap at the source itself, on to the beer:

Golden colored and clean bodied, this saison is adequate in the head and retention department. Happily, the aroma is more than adequate, where the aroma of ginger, citrus peel, and orange only tease the nose for better things to come. Nonetheless, the saison style is something that I tend to either love or hate. It looks that I'm closer to the middle with the Tattered Prince. At least it's different from the usual saison; a strong shot of ginger sets the stage for coriander and vague citrus to absorb. It's medium bodied and gently carbonated, which nudges this saison closer to the "love" than the "hate".

On tap at Bottle Logic Brewing in Anaheim, CA.

Pours a hazy golden yellow with a foamy off-white head that settles to a partial film on top of the beer. Small streaks of lace form around the glass on the drink down. Smell is of malt, grain, spice, yeast, and citrus aromas. Taste is much the same with grain, spice, and yeast flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of yeast bitterness on the palate with each sip. This beer has a lower level of carbonation with a slightly crisp mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer that is tasty but has a slightly better aroma in my opinion.

General: This was my first time to Bottle Logic, had a sampler and got a small growler to go of the tattered prince. This place was awesome and I'm going to write a review of the brewery itself tomorrow.

Appearance: Beautiful light golden color. The head is light white, very small bubbles that doesn't persist.

Aroma: This has a great aroma that includes a lot of clove and a touch of banana but there is a nice blueberry and mango scent to this I think. It's the hops for sure, this is a great saison.

Mouthfeel: This is fairly carbonated, a touch below normal but that can be because of primarily it being in a growler. The body is average, it's good for a saison.

Taste: This is a good saison, very mild flavors that play very nicely together. I think that this could be in my regular rotation if it was in bottles. Even without bottles, I'll be having this from growlers every few weeks. Very well balanced with the malt and hops but some great belgian yeast flavors added in there.

Overall: This is a good saison, there is a lot of nice flavors that are really well combined. This place really surprised me, very good beers. I'm a fan.

Very drinkable. Faint spice and fruit.
